Assange is the modern version of Daniel Ellsberg. Ellsberg became a bit of a media darling, too. Don't think he asked for it, but that's what happened. The only reason the Post published Deep Throat's info was because they were basically a CIA cover and had the go ahead. The covert agencies knew the Viet Nam war was a loser and they wanted the U.S. out of there.

This is where the alt right does get things right in their own feeble minded way. The mainstream media is beholden to the letter agencies, imho.

I wouldn't disagree with that because there is too much at stake to not honor the connection between media and national security. I'll look further, you may have a point ...

Trump reneged on the deal When Assange wouldn’t provide the name of the person who gave him access to the information (thought by RWNJs to be Seth Rich). Can’t comment on the veracity of this info, I didn’t look into it too deeply, but it would make sense that Assange would pick the side most likely to help him. The reality is that given Assange‘s condition at the time, it probably wouldn’t even have been him that made any decisions relating to it anyway.
    Welcome, Jane!

His info on the Clintons was spun to high heaven by the alt right nutcases, but there are a few gems in there that absolutely crucify them, and it appears to be right from the horse's mouth. And, btw, it has nothing to do with pedophilia, etc...
Haha, thanks Jess! Yeah, finally made it out of my cage, still feeling bruised after the whole Avalon thing, they seem to have gone full cray there. Sorry for the late reply, lost track of this thread!

I agree that Assange is ‘good‘ as it were but I think he’s lost his mind not that I blame him. The more I try to figure out the state of the world, the more I realise I know nothing.

To admit that is the beginning of wisdom.

Haha, thanks Wind. I’m beginning to think it’s the only wisdom that currently exists. There are few absolute truths on this planet, most truth falls into the shades of grey. It’s becomingly increasingly problematic that most people can only manage to retain one position at a time and is quite likely going to lead to the death of democracy across the world.

interesting post JJ, i've been accused of being a 'flipflopper' but i'm not. I just follow 'philosophy' as near to its logical conclusion as I can. And there are a lot of nuances along the way. And at some point all 'real' situations break paradigmatic thinking.

Hi again, Jane. Yes, Project Avalon, has become the very loving and super enlightened pro-Fascist forum, by default. They are fixated on Communism and Marxism as the ultimate boogeymen...and socialism too. This would make sense if the military in the U.S. wasn't one big welfare/warfare program.

Somehow, protesting the deaths of blacks at the hands of police is a Marxist endeavor?? Like how? Oh, it's because BLM is all communist. LOL. And they are going to take over. Uh huhhhh.... It's the Dunning Kruger effect, in terms of political awareness. People who are so politically unaware that they aren't aware of their own immense naivete.

Anyway, I would like to see an economic system that provides incentives while flattening income and wages, taxes the living daylights out of capital gains and keeps people secure and happy. We're moving towards that right now, in Canada. We have been going through government austerity, with regards social programs for decades here. Not as bad as many countries but it could have been much better, had the govts. had the balls to tax
stock transactions, for starters---way back when.

Absolutely this I’d like to add, one which is able to reflect the value of the work we ALL do and that includes caring and volunteer work. Not sure when the US will work it’s probably not a good idea to pay low wages and have low taxes. Won’t change until the people decide they’re worth more than what they’re getting though.

And Avalon has truly lost its way. The BDAnon thread, ohmigosh, I just couldn’t *♀️
