lol, you softies ... I've only watched it once and it was over-the-top violent but the abilities of the Kingsman on display is what really fascinated me.

Been a long time since I was in a discussion about that movie. I'm not sure i've actually even watched it, as unlikely as it might seem. For no explicable reason I never really liked Antonio Banderas ... I'm more of a Javier Bardem guy...But I don't like Penelope Cruz ... it's just about the characters they play. I think I'm ready to watch the 13th Warrior with a different eye ... this time.

I liked the 13th Warrior. It had lots of tension and emotion, not just a bunch of gratuitous violence. I felt like I had to pay attention.

I started watching this but I always fall asleep and then have to roll it back the next time ... anyway:

Special effects are good, interesting concept (200 years in the future):

now that you mention, that's probably why I didn't like it. I only go for that kind of movie in the sci-fi genre ...

It's a "less magical" retelling of the Beowulf saga, and it's very well made.

ahh, Beowulf ... honestly I never was able to get into that story because the one i read was almost unintelligible to me. I've seen some redones of it that I liked kinda. I will watch it probably tonight because it could very well be worth it...

I watched most of 13th warrior before I fell asleep so I'll have to finish it tonight. I want to be honest, the dialogue is distracting to me. I would have preferred subtitles. The cinematography was cool but it isn't very watchable to my eyes either. The filming style is not one that I enjoy as too much is lost in the lighting and the choreography of the physical encounters are too tight to be clearly seen. But I haven't watched it to the end yet. It might change my overall impression.

This morning I was looking for it (I watched it on the free channel, IMDB-TV) and stumbled on this guy again.

I did say that it was a "less magical" version of the story. Grendel is represented by the Wendol ─ the cannibals ─ and specifically their leader. Their queen is Grendel's mother. Buliwyf is Beowulf. It's all pretty obvious.

It's not a movie about a monster. The book that the movie was based upon is called "Eaters Of The Dead".

Come on man, why are you dissing all the good guys! You're like the polar opposite of me.
Antonio Banderas was great in Desperado and The Mask of Zorro. My two favorite movies!

Bardem is great as a bad guy often, as far as I'm concerned Anton Chigurh is one of the most cold-blooded psychopath's on the silver screen. Did you know that he's actually married to Penelope Cruz? Maybe that's why you mentioned her. Not into her really, don't see what the fuss is about. She was together with crazy Tom Cruise a long time ago.

Salma Hayek and Catherine Zeta-Jones on the other hand though...

Salma Hayek is wow and so is Zeta-Jones. I was asked one time if i had to choose between one or the other which would i pick, I said I would likely just explode...

Zorro was good, Desperado I don't even remember...

Desperado, was that a Tarrantino movie? yes it was ...
