I went to see that with my former girlfriend, I greatly enjoyed the action. She didn't.

i guess that's why she's a former, huh ... it was a very good movie, I fell in love with Christoph Waltz' acting in Inglourious Basterds ... he was just good.

Nah that was the least of our problems, we had a similar movie taste even though I was far more into action and guns.

I first saw him in that movie too, but even more than that I enjoyed seeing him in Django.

In the right material (with the right director such as Tarantino) he's a superb actor.

I rarely watch any series anymore, but since HBO usually provides quality stuff I'll give these two a go.

Regarding Dark Materials: the girl, Dafne Keen was in the movie Logan with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart.

James McAvoy played the younger Xavier.

    Kinda small world.

I really liked the books. I hope the movies can do justice.

Damn, I didn't realize that even though I saw that movie a few years ago and I have good face memory! I guess it's because she spoke Spanish in that movie and she was smaller back then. Small world indeed. I never got to read the books, but I heard they were good. They made a movie about the first book some years ago I think, but it wasn't so succesful. Now they made that series and a second season is coming soon.

Yeah, when I looked her up, she'd matured quite a bit. She's 15 now.

I thought her Spanish accent sounded different. That's because she's actually Spanish.

So I finally watched The Day the Earth Stood Still last night and I mean the new version. It sure had an interesting premise and the beginning was good, but overall it was a bland movie and Will Smith's kid almost ruined it. I hear that the original movie from the 50's is better. I think this species of ours is so arrogantly foolish. Well, am I part of humanity? I guess at least my body is now.

"When faced with a radical crisis, when the old way of being in the world, of interacting with each other and with the realm of nature doesn't work anymore, when survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems, an individual life-form -- or a species -- will either die or become extinct or rise above the limitations of its condition through an evolutionary leap." ~ Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

The original has always been one of my favorites (among a long list of favorites, of course ... I can still remember talking to my dad about it and Michael Rennie ... I thought he resembled Christopher Lee)

Keanu's version redeeming points were the nano-tech and the alien gentleman that had lived on Earth for a long time and appreciated them ... beyond that it was pretty much featureless.

And jennifer Connelly of course ...

She's so pretty, always liked her. She's almost 50 now and still looks young.

She was in Alita too and Snowpiercer the series, haven't seen that one.

She wasn't in the original Korean movie, I saw it and didn't like it. They made a series about the story too.

We won't kill the planet. Just our ability to survive on it.

If we lose the pumps and the ocean becomes slime, life will go on. We may not.

If we have the expected weather extremes, life will continue. We may not.

Life will certainly continue on planet earth without us as it had for a few billion years.

I understand the appeal to care for the planet. It works with some people.

And some people just want to take what they can before it all goes bad.

I expect humanity will evolve, and in the process our population numbers will change dramatically.

I don't think I saw the movie version with Keanu Reeves.

I don't believe that there are "only a few planets in the cosmos that can support life." I believe life is everywhere. This planet most likely gained water and amino acids from space rocks.

The universe and nature are generally much smarter than they are given credit for.
