Well, just in case, I have to defend my Z'er. I think this might be a little different situation, but maybe not. The Z'er is indestructible, and has a desire to contribute to social wellness, so they feel that can contribute to 'Herd Immunity' by infecting themselves. Risky behavior, yes, but when has a twenty-something not engaged in risky behaviors ... never. I didn't look close enough to consider age or if it was 'typical Southern' or the socially conscious southerner, or just crazy people.

What's with 'M.E.' One would think that you are American OG.

I have suspected vaccines besides antibiotics. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I recall being in college with some very intelligent young people. Intelligent young people who did some very stupid things.

The Executive Director function of the brain clearly hasn't kicked in yet for these young adults.

What kind of payout is worth potential weeks of illness and potential years of after-effects? There's no amount I would take.

Herd Immunity comes after a whole lotta folks get sick and many of them die. There's no reason to run towards that.

We are losing herd immunity to diseases such as measles and mumps due to the numbers of folks not getting vaccinated. We are crossing a threshold where outbreaks can again occur.

Sometimes it seems like a catch-22. We found a cure for ulcers. But then we discovered that the bacteria related to ulcers provides protection for esophageal cancer. So then we have a trade-off. No ulcers, but maybe cancer.

    And the beat goes on.

Now we also have bacteria resistant to antibiotics, just because doctors have been prescribring those pills way too easily and too much.

I don't think that modern allopathic medicines wouldn't have brought us many benefits, but also there's always the downside. We should look more into nature for healing, herbs and so forth. "Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food", said Hipprocrates a long time ago.

I'm not going to dismiss his argumentation, because he could be correct. It could have been part of a benevolent (albeit dangerous) branch of virus research, and if so, then the release of the virus onto the world was almost without any doubt an accident ─ one that the Chinese government would of course want to keep covered up at all cost, and because of that, we're not very likely to ever find out the truth. But it won't have been a deliberate release, and certainly not an attempt to create a killer virus. If that had been the objective, then Ebola would have worked just fine.

Yet, what we do know is that the virus did not come from the Wuhan market. Even the Chinese researchers are now saying that's impossible.

I thought from the very beginning (and said so) that this virus must have been an accidental release from a Wuhan Biolab and it showed clear signs of genetic manipulation as part of gain-of-function research.

That is no longer a fringe view and I am increasingly reading about it in mainstream media. I first wrote about it in January, which, if you can believe it, was almost half a year ago. The circumstantial evidence was almost as strong then as it is today, but there are certain things you cannot keep hidden forever and the political situation has changed. China has managed to piss off pretty much everyone in the world by now and they have very few friends left. Even Russia is growing impatient with them.

I see that as a good thing and it is no accident (ha!) that this accidental release of a deadly pathogen has been compared to Chernobyl from the very beginning. I expect it will end the Communist Hold on China in time and restore the Republic of China that has so tragically been lost in the 1940s, surviving only on the Island of Taiwan to this day.
