AT 2:36 he says, "If you look at the Confederacy coming out of the Civil War..."

As if it was still extant.

    Which it wasn't.

At 11:30 the speaker points out a really cool thing about photography at that time.

Which you can see in the photo that is part of the post. Look at his feet.

The tangent story about the black powder is somethin' else! Very funny. Glad the professor wasn't hurt.

No nerve. Just an observation. I understand that this is a presentation and he's laying out a story.

And it's a very good one, really enjoyable. Thanks, Gio.

At 37:19 he talks about the term 'scallawag'. I hadn't recalled it's origins. I associate it with sailors for some reason.

There is a dance. There is a very lonely young lady whose father had served in the army of the North. Folks wouldn't socialize with her. Lee approached her and asked her for the next dance.

Not only did the men line up to ask for dances after that, she became the Belle of the Season. Wow.

The speaker notes the import of this event despite no publicity nor news reports.

It's a wonderful story of personal example. Which is a nice theme in this presentation. Our current leaders don't have the makings to do these things.

    Question

And speaking post civil war ...

    Sex, drugs and dirty laundry:
inside the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case
    | 60 Minutes Australia

It’s a Hollywood drama like the world has never seen. With an A-list cast, it’s full of intrigue and fiery dialogue, and topped off with lashings of sex and drugs. There is even a pivotal scene set right here in Australia, starring politician Barnaby Joyce. But this production isn’t playing at any theatre. Centre stage is a London court where actor Johnny Depp is suing an English tabloid for calling him a wife beater. As Tom Steinfort reveals, no one is going to win an Oscar, but Depp and his one-time bride, actress Amber Heard, have been putting on the performance of their lives, airing every sordid detail of their bizarre and doomed marriage.

I see now that his appellation was about how the Confederacy may have ended as an entity but was still very much alive in peoples' hearts. (which it still is to this day, apparently)

Thank you National Park Service. This presentation was brought to you by hard working folks and our taxpayer dollars. (no sarcasm here for those who may be unsure)

Eye Of The Needle | Episode 6.1 Reset Operation Chaos
    the 7 Year Gateway

    Randy Maugans/OffPlanet Media

    Recorded July 30, 2020

Show # 6 is significant: 6 is the number of man. In keeping with that, we will break out the missing element—the element that begins to define the conscious living souls back into the original “Eden”… Commentary on Present Period: into the eye; the psychic wars, dark forces/“alien mind” gone chaotic; scripts running, no “head”—the headless horsemen. COVID is the mind war and attempts to rule in the awakening consciousness; way beyond tipping point now—-they’re desperate. It is an A.I. (Archon Interference) program.

The next four years will continue OPERATION CHAOS: things will not
“make sense”. People — leaders, so-called, will seemingly shift sides, change mantras, appear in public as confused, angry, and incoherent. The Ship of State is rudderless. Things that once made sense will seem to melt into meaninglessness; like economies: “money from nothing…” Technological shifts as hardware and software merge. Tech giants outflank nations in economics and power. Why Elon Musk may be a serious future presidential candidate!

In the background: more people begin pulling out —“disappearing”— from the socio-economic system. Polarization from the masking divide becomes permanent markers of “NPC-style” non-conscious entity bots; the consciousness wave continues; sharp contrast between those stuck in the old paradigms and those willing to risk everything to break out of the Construct. Comet Neowise: or “new Wisdom”.

In the Solomonic writings, Wisdom is called SOPHIA. The comet is an omen of the return of Wisdom/Sophia, the FEMININE ASPECT, and the HOLY SPIRIT, the innate wisdom codes/higher consciousness of the DNA. (Second segment of this show).

U.S. History: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

John Oliver takes a look at how the history of race in America is taught in schools, how we can make those teachings more accurate, and why it’s in everyone's best interest to understand the most realistic version of the past.

    Americans
    Overwhelmingly Favor
    Sending Trump
    Back to School in Fall

    By Andy Borowitz
    July 9, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Borowitz Report)—Amid the debate over reopening the nation’s schools, a new poll shows that an overwhelming majority of Americans would like Donald J. Trump to go back to school in the fall.

Due to social-distancing requirements, those surveyed agreed that there should be limits on class size when Trump returns to school, but that his class should be large enough to accommodate other education-starved students such as Jared Kushner, Rand Paul, and Betsy DeVos.

Although Americans acknowledge that the logistics of sending Trump back to school could be complicated and expensive, the cost of his continuing lack of education is far greater, the poll indicates.

Americans were split on which school subjects they would like to see Trump focus on most when he returns to the classroom.

Science and math received the strongest support, but a substantial number of respondents also favored history, geography, and English.

Finally, if Trump is ordered back to school in the fall, a vast majority of respondents urged that steps be taken to insure that he does not send someone else in his place.

Andy Borowitz is a Times best-selling author and a comedian who has written for The New Yorker since 1998. He writes The Borowitz Report, a satirical column on the news.

    Thinking

Might preserve for the theater going experience ...

    DOJ kills 1948 rule separating
    Hollywood studios from movie
    theaters

Shares of struggling cinema chains jumped on Friday after the Department of Justice scrapped 72-year-old rules severely limiting Hollywood’s ability to buy movie theaters.

Friday’s ruling paves the way for film studio giants like Disney and Netflix to look beyond one-off purchases of small theaters and set their sights on buying larger swaths of cinemas. Disney already owns the El Capitan Hollywood theater, while Reed Hastings’ Netflix owns the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood and the Paris Theater in New York.

Shares of beleaguered cinema chains, which have been crushed by the coronavirus pandemic, soared on the M&A potential, with AMC Entertainment up 15 percent and IMAX and Cinemark rising 3 percent and 5 percent, respectively.

Laws prohibiting film studios from owning too many cinemas were established 71 years ago when the big screen was Hollywood’s main distribution form and powerful production companies like Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox and Warner Brothers had a stranglehold on them.

The DOJ’s antitrust chief Makan Delrahim argued last year that the so-called Paramount Consent Decrees were outdated thanks to the growth of streaming video. Unlike traditional studios, streaming giants like Netflix, Amazon and even iPhone maker Apple produce and distribute their own films.

On Friday, a federal court judge in the Southern District of New York sided with the DOJ, which allowed the to quash the laws.

“As the court points out, ‘Gone with the Wind,’ ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ were the blockbusters when these decrees were litigated,” the DOJ said in announcing the news. “Without these restraints on the market, American ingenuity is again free to experiment with different business models that can benefit consumers.”
