    Question

    Being afraid ...

    The Science of Fear

    DW Documentary

Why are anxiety disorders on the rise? Is there a pill for fear? Fear can cause trembling, a racing heart, sweating, and stress. It’s essential for our survival, but it can also make us sick.

How is the coronavirus pandemic affecting our sense of fear? Can a fear of heights be conquered with the help of virtual reality? Why do so many people enjoy being scared, and what positive effects can it have? When we are afraid, the amygdala in our brain takes control of body and mind. In recent years, scientists around the world have succeeded in further decoding human fear and developing completely new therapies. Our fear-memory prevents us from forgetting dangerous experiences. This can be helpful, but sometimes such memories take on a life of their own. At the University of Freiburg Medical Center, a team led by psychiatrist Katharina Domschke is investigating the cause of panic attacks. The experts’ lab experiments reveal something surprising: Many anxiety attacks are unconsciously triggered or provoked by the patients themselves. There are also those who don’t seem to be afraid of anything, like motocross champion Kyle Demelo. He’s fallen countless times, but still gets back on his motorcycle to compete in his hazardous sport. Neuropsychologist David Zald investigates why Kyle's "fear center” functions differently to many other people’s. Is Kyle incapable of feeling fear, or is he just not afraid of his fear?

The science of fear and the amygdala were a subject in the movie Free Solo. Alex Honnold does have fear, but he is so focused on his choreographed moves that he leaves himself no time for fear.

You do get a chance to see his fear when Alex balks at his first attempt. And he stopped the climb and went home. He knew his limits.

    Fascinating, Gio. Thanks.

    Edgar Cayce... His Incredible Predictions
Were 93% Accurate And Often Shocking

COAST TO COAST AM INSIDER Archived Show - Kevin Todeschi, spokesperson for A.R.E., the organization which Edgar Cayce founded, talked about Cayce's life and work as well as dream interpretation. Known as the Sleeping Prophet, Cayce gave out thousands of readings while in a trance state, and those concerning medical issues had a 93% accuracy rating, Todeschi reported.

Cayce believed that Atlanteans saved records of their advanced civilization in three locations-- in the Yucatan, on the Bimini Islands and in the right paw of the Sphinx. Buried at the Sphinx is a written history of the world from the time of Atlantis to our current era, he predicted.A University recently got the OK to do some underground tunneling to study parts of the Sphinx, Todeschi announced.

You can write out a question before going to sleep, and often receive answers in your dreams, which impart subconscious knowledge from within yourself, Todeschi suggested. Cayce believed that dreams brought people closer to the "superconscious mind" which is a throughway to the Akashic Records-- a "universal library" for every soul where "probabilities" are constantly being calculated. Themes and symbols play an important part in dream interpretation, said Todeschi, who noted that global themes (such as wars and disasters) typically represent personal issues in the dreamer's life

I have to listen carefully because I get confused.

Until very recently, Bill Clinton and especially Hillary were called neo-conservative. George Bush was a neocon. But as with this interview, I just listened to another discussion (not with Hedges) where Bush (W) was being referred to as neoliberal.

When did neocon become neoliberal? Obviously, the politics are the same, but when did the nomenclature change? Hillary was being called a neocon when she ran against Trump.

Chris' observation at four and a half minutes is the first time I've heard someone state this so openly. Clinton, like Tony Blair, had to pay fealty to the powers that be and he transformed the Democratic Party into the Republican Party and 'pushed the Republican Party so far to the right that it became insane.'

My father certainly observed the first part of that dynamic and was quite unhappy as the second part unfolded. I'm very glad he passed before witnessing Qanon and the seditious attempts to overturn the election. He would have been beside himself.

My father also talked about the problems with Clinton's deregulation. My father was a conservative, but he never believed in deregulation for deregulation's sake.
