You've misread that. It should read as...

    • Threads: 11,995

We're a looooong way away from 155'000 members. Not even Project Avalon has that many.

That is really very hard to say. There are weeks when there isn't a single new registration ─ except for the spam bots and the Bitcoin miners, of course ─ and then there are days that there are four new members joining up all at the same time. But even then still, just because they join up doesn't mean they'll be coming around again after their first visit, let alone that they'd ever be posting anything.

Project Avalon has the same problem, and as you well know, their registration procedure is a lot more elaborate than ours. According to Bill Ryan, more than half of the members at Project Avalon has yet to make their first post beyond the obligatory post they must make on that special introduction thread they have over there in order to have their account activated. Some longstanding Project Avalon members have postulated that the new registrations are only signing up so as to have access to the members-only sections of the forum, but I think this is just the usual paranoia talking, which is so typical within this so-called alternative community.

As the administrator here, I loosely keep an eye on what members are regularly visiting the forum and what members are not. And it is my observation that most of the new registrations here at The One Truth are of the drive-by kind, by which I mean that they will be people who are surfing for certain information ─ often from a mobile device, rather than by way of a regular desktop/laptop computer ─ and who then stumble upon The One Truth and decide on a whim to sign up here, but who will by the next day have already long forgotten that they ever did so.

P.S.: The number of members in the stats does not only pertain to members with an active account. It also includes members on sabbatical, retired members, deceased members, the two bots we have, and even banned members. At the moment, we have the following population of the member database...

    • Founders
    • Administrators
    • Super Moderators
    • Moderators
    • Regular Members
    • Members on Sabbatical
    • Deceased Members
    • Retired Members
    • The One Truth Bots
    • Registrations awaiting Moderation
    • Registrations awaiting Email Confirmation
    • Temporarily Banned Members
    • Permanently Banned Members

Non-human registrations ─ i.e. spam bots and the likes ─ are not in the database. Botty McBotFace automatically rejects their registration and reports this on a dedicated thread in the mod room, and I in turn then add all of their IP addresses to a blacklist in the forum's firewall. When I began doing that on the 8th of February 2018, there were only some 50 IP addresses on that list. Right now, there are 1'322 individual entries on that list, many of which cover entire subranges of IP addresses from which we've been hit with bot registrations both repeatedly and incessantly ─ up to 12 times a day sometimes.

We're also blocking a couple of countries in their entirety because of this ─ China, Vietnam, Belarus, Russia, and I believe there may also be a couple of the countries with a name ending in "-stan" on that list ─ but this is at yet a deeper level, i.e. through the firewall at the hosting company itself.
