It's hard to see Jimmy Carter as a bag of pus. He's spent his life since his Presidency doing good works for folks who are not rich.

I make no excuses here, and as President a person only has so much control. It's also possible that a man such as Carter might not have believed people could really be as evil as they are.

It's certainly been tough for me. I would never naturally consider the possibility of some of the evil that goes on in the world. It's a rough experience learning about it.

It may in fact be such truths which left him in tears after taking office.

With Dmitry, you always have to keep in mind that despite the fact he spent most of his life in the US, he has a deep pro-Russia (and pro-Putin) bias and he is quite the anti-American. That makes his criticism of the USA even more biting and often quite funny, but he does go overboard sometimes. I agree, that Jimmy Carter was actually a decent human being and tried to do the right thing most of the time. All the ones that followed him were huge let-downs. Perhaps Obama meant well, even if he couldn't achieve any of the change he honestly meant to achieve, but realised early on that the president is just a figurehead and has little real power.

Obama offered up policy after policy which had originally been created and touted by conservatives. Obamacare is the biggest example. It was originally put forth by the Heritage Foundation and promoted by Republicans.

But they cannot support a Democrat even if he offers up their own legislation.

Remember, Gingrich turned compromise into a bad word.

Obama was foolish to believe they would really work with him, even if he played by their rules.

I guess he had to try.

Here's a TED talk which touches on the history of nomination/election and voting.

I almost missed this interview with Cathy O'Brien, author of Trance-Formation of America, who exposed the Bush family for the evil sadists they really are. If you haven't yet heard of Cathy and want to find out who the real George Bush Sr. was, this is a must-listen. Richie Allen does an excellent job of getting to the bottom of things, as always.
