I've only been saying this for about nine months, and I have repeatedly tried to point out that the whole QAnon joke was nothing more than the umpteenth cult phenomenon that this so-called "alternative community" was once again gratuitously allowing itself to fall for, just as it had fallen for Simon Parkes, Randy "Captain Kaye" Cramer, Corey Goode, Shane "The Ruiner" Bales, and whoever else is there.

When the QAnon groupies were perching down here at The One Truth and plastering the whole forum with far-right propaganda, Trump worship and Q Fever, my colleagues and I were being accused of "suppressing freedom of speech" for not allowing hate speech on our forum, as well as of "suppressing information" for not allowing the cult members and bigots to rape The One Truth and turn it into a propaganda billboard for a cause that is and has always been directly juxtaposed to the very spirit of this forum.

And so now the eyes are starting to open up to the unmistakable evidence of people's umpteenth bout of self-induced insanity. Sadly enough, those who ignore history are doomed to continue repeating it. Once again, the so-called "alternative community" has proven itself to be largely comprised of impetuous brats who will time and time again fail to recognize wisdom, and instead rather choose to indulge in the pursuit of illusions. And then you guys wonder why nobody in the mainstream is willing to take this alternative research seriously? Hell, we're the management of this forum and even we can't take this "research" seriously anymore!

At least the staff's honor and sanity have both been vindicated now, and so I am now finally at liberty to park both this thread and the other QAnon-related ones where they belong, i.e. in the Proven Hoaxes & Misinformation category.

Oh, I see. First I was a fascist and a suppressor of free speech because I didn't allow hate speech, then I was a dictator for pointing out that we have rules around here, and now I'm a bully for confronting people -- in the undoubtedly vain hope that they'd actually learn something -- with their tendency to repeatedly fall for deceivers.

Second, all I'm saying is that the bully pulpit is needed at times, one just needs to be mindful of not over doing it. In my experience people don't learn a damn thing when they get their noses rubbed in I told you so, it just stiffens their resolve and creates resentment.

"Moderation" can also mean finding the sweet spot between two extremes.

You didn't, but others did -- and quite literally too. And I also forgot to mention in my previous post that I'm allegedly also "a power-hungry bot" and -- as I was told only two days ago by a member of another cult we've got hanging around in this neck of the woods -- "a scumbag" (among many other nasty things). (Don't go looking for that post, because I've reported it to the mod room and then I've deleted it. And the ban list got a little longer too.)

Well, you'd be right if it weren't for the fact that I had already tried that, and on more than one occasion too. And it just doesn't work, because then they either ignore me, or they end up bullying me. So when people are being stupid and defiant, then yes, I now tend to rub their noses into it, and I will show them exactly why they're being stupid. Besides, when it's Lord Sidious -- whom I respect -- who rubs their faces into it, then everyone's okay with it, and then they will even thank his post. It's just not okay when it's the Big Bad Admin™ who opens his mouth.

It's a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it, and among other things, that's one of my responsibilities around here -- especially so when these infatuations with storytellers and LARP'ing idiots becomes a liability to the forum and all that it stands for. Plus that I also happen to give a damn. Life would certainly be a lot easier for me if I didn't give a shit, but unfortunately for myself, I happen to care about integrity, truthfulness and responsibility. That's why I was recruited as a moderator in April 2015 in the first place -- even though I hadn't volunteered -- and why I was then made a super moderator in May 2015, and why I was eventually asked to step up as administrator in August 2015.

Anyway, I'm glad that we can now officially catalog this whole episode as yet another concluded^[*] disinformation bout. I don't intend to keep on rubbing it in -- that's not my style either -- but I've said what needed to be said, and that wraps it up for me.

[*] Not that this would be the end of the QAnon droppings elsewhere on the internet, nor of the madness that surrounds this phenomenon. After all, Simon Parkes, Corey Goode and Shane Bales have all been exposed a long time ago, and they too are still going strong, with their respective cults riding their coat tails like hungry dogs.

I had not yet seen this video when I drew my conclusions, Vern. I based my conclusions on the plausibility of truth in the published confession of this former QAnon member -- among other things, I'm an IT guy, remember? -- versus the plausibility that the QAnon phenomenon would have been legitimate, in addition to the fact that a precursor of QAnon had already been around on 4Chan from before Trump was even elected as president.

This precursor of QAnon claimed that he was an FBI insider, and like those QAnon idiots, the guy was nauseatingly far-right -- he described "being liberal" as "the consequence of not having morals", and in his description of African-Americans he was essentially degrading them to savages, if not to mere animals. I even commented -- here at the forum -- at the time that if that guy was really an FBI insider, then it would have been extremely scary if his right-winged and racist vantages were representative of the FBI itself as an institution.

The guy also claimed to possess the exact same kind of "Sooper Dooper Seekrit Insida Nollidge" as those QAnon idiots would come to claim later, except that he wasn't doing it with cryptic droppings and "James Bond"/"Mission Impossible"-style messages and rhetorical questions. He wrote in understandable English -- albeit with bad grammar and spelling, and with the same kind of acronyms and abbreviations like "HRC", "POTUS", et al -- and he replied to people's individual questions directly by referencing the number of their posts in his replies. He also repeatedly claimed that he could not say more because his life was allegedly in danger, and he made the same kind of libelous claims of pedophilia and child trafficking on account of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Podesta, et al.

Not everything in the mainstream is true -- we know that. But at the same time, that also doesn't mean that everything in the mainstream would be a lie. Unfortunately, there is a whole legion of kooks out there, comprising everything from people with severe psychological disorders and/or substance abuse habits, all the way over to everyday people who just never had a proper education, or who couldn't be bothered paying attention while at school, and who do not understand either science or technology. And to make it all worse, you can then throw religious fanaticism into that mix. And that is then how come there is an alarmingly huge number of people who claim that Earth would be flat, and/or that Earth is only 6'000 years old and that Adam and Eve lived together with the dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden, because "the Bible is God's word."

Discernment is key, Vern. And it also helps to actually listen to people who have had an education, and who continue educating themselves with the help of the new material being made available as science progresses, instead of dismissing everything with a knee-jerk just because it happens to be mainstream.

Out of thesis and antithesis, synthesis will be born. Therefore, common sense dictates that a far-right political movement can never ever be a synthesis of anything at all. The very fact that it is far-right means that it is an opposite to something -- it is an opposite to the (perceived) political left. Opposites are by definition a thesis or an antithesis, never a synthesis.

Whenever I cast judgment on some phenomenon or some person, then I am always open to the possibility that I could be wrong, but at the same time, I also always approach things from the empirical, scientific perspective. And in this case concretely, I know with absolute certainty that I am right, and that I have been right from the start. The data is the data. It is not a psyop -- or at least, not from the conspiracy research vantage where either the government or some secret government agency would be pulling a deception trick on the public at large -- but a mere hoax by a couple of computer nerds with a strong right-wing bias. There is no purpose to it -- which there would be if it were a true government or government agency operation -- other than mental masturbation for the perpetrators and a field day for ultra-nationalists.

The perpetrators of this hoax are acting out a fantasy in which they play the role of a secret faction of military insiders -- and for that matter, a fantasy in which the good guys happen to be ultra-nationalists, which should already be enough of a contradiction in terms to be even remotely possible in the eyes of every sane individual on this planet -- and in doing so, they are dragging every ultra-nationalist out there with them in the wake of their ego-masturbation, creating a fan base for themselves as additional motivation for holding up the deception.

The QAnon fans get addicted to the "come and see next week's episode" character of it all, while the actual perpetrators themselves are having their self-esteem and their egos jacked up. From the purely psychological or psychiatric point of view, it would in theory even be possible that one or several of these characters would eventually come to actually believe in the fantasy that he or she created. You create a fictional character, you assume yourself to be this fictional character, you play the part, and then you end up believing that you are the character.

Either way, there is also the most likely very real psychological aspect that they know that they can't just stop anymore, because if they were to do that, then not only are they going to lose their following and thus find themselves confronted with a boring life again -- and as such, they've become addicted to their own drug -- but stopping now would also suddenly confront them with the ethical and possibly legal consequences of what they've done.

As the matter of fact, not too long ago, a guy was arrested who was carrying a semi-automatic rifle on him, and who upon his detention proclaimed himself on a mission in support of the alleged war between the fictional team of QAnon and Donald Trump on the one hand, and "those dirty Democratic pedophiles" on the other hand -- disclaimer: I do not remember whether the guy actually shot anyone or whether he was arrested before he could do so. It either way means that those QAnon guys are causing a certain degree of civil unrest and that they are -- granted: possibly unintentionally -- inciting violence. And unless I am mistaken, that would qualify as a criminal offense. The same might be true for impersonating a member of the armed forces, albeit that the vagueness of it all may negate prosecution on those charges -- e.g. did they or did they not actually claim to be military personnel, or was that something their fan base came up with without that QAnon made any such claims?

Anyway, there's bound to be some karmic retribution in one form or another. So they know they can't stop. They can't afford to lose the self-esteem they've built up while pretending to be some kind of secret agents, and they can't afford to admit that it was all a hoax, and that they are responsible for all of the bad things that have happened because of their deceptive 4Chan/8Chan droppings.
