A few comments like this stood out to me:

It seems he didn’t have sexual relations with these girls. It’s weird, but then I think it would take a dozen psychiatrists years to decipher Elvis’ extraordinarily complex character! I’m no psychotherapist but I get the feeling that he was emotionally and mentally stunted in his development. An obsessively over-protective mother perhaps, and then fame doing the rest. He had many actual sexual relationships with grown women but he seemed to draw the line with adolescents. I do think it strange of course but I think we’re looking at a psychological problem on his part rather than something truly sinister. These ladies don’t seem to have come to any harm and I don’t believe that Elvis meant to harm them.
It's definitely weird as was the case weird with Michael Jackson and then later evil and greedy people wanted money from him and he got his reputation as a pedo, which he wasn't. He was just weird, probably an alien. Like Peter Pan, a boy who never grew up and was more or less emotionally stunted because he never had a real childhood. His father was an abusive asshole. Michael wanted just to play with kids as a kid himself, because that's how he was internally. Innocent and childish, possibly gay too. But not some evil predator as they made him to be. His messages in his music about universal love and saving the world speaks volumes about his real character, he could have been even killed for some nefarious reasons. I don't know about Elvis, but if those people and girls say that he was always nice and there was nothing sexual going on then perhaps that indeed was the case? I know how normally Rockstars have lots of young groupies too.

    Thinking

Wind, you make some good points while bringing Micheal Jackson into the mix ...

In my not professional layman observations, i see both Micheal and Elvis having similarities and connections to what is called (labeled) as Peter Pan syndrome and behaviors.

With both (Micheal and Elvis) having very strong and overbearing oversight (and influences) by Micheal's father Joe Jackson and Elvis by his manager and overseer Colonel Tom Parker respectively.

Michael Jackson wasn't gay. But yes, he was the real-life embodiment of Peter Pan, the boy who refused to grow up. And he was very much aware of that. That's why he called his ranch Neverland.

Good points, Gio. Michael so dreaded his father that he did everything within his reach to not look like him anymore. Hence all the plastic surgery, which ultimately even cost him his nose.

And in Elvis' case, yes, Colonel Tom Parker completely ran and ruled over Elvis' life, which Elvis then sought compensation for by resorting to substance abuse, which ultimately killed him at only 42 years old. In a way, Elvis loved his fame, but in another way, he was also disgusted by it, leading to the (in)famous incident whereby he saw himself on TV and then fired a gun at it.

Incidentally, something prompted me to reading up on Marilyn Monroe at Wikipedia yesterday, and the Wikipedia article also detailed a lot of her tormenting background. For instance, she spent most of her childhood in foster homes and at an orphanage — her mother was a paranoid schizophrenic — and she had been sexually abused by different individuals at multiple instances during her childhood and adolescence.

She was also portrayed as naive and even dumb — partly because of typecasting — but she was actually very intelligent and tough, and she had a very good sense of humor, in which she constantly parodied herself with quotes from her film roles. She was also very much aware of how Marilyn Monroe was only the character she played before the eyes of the world — her real name was Norma Jean Mortenson — and when with friends, she referred to her Marilyn Monroe persona in third person, and she based her public persona on that of Mae West.

She was a perfectionist in her acting, but at the same time she had an immense stage fright. And given her traumatic youth, she had developed bipolar disorder, which led her toward heavy substance abuse, and then ultimately, an intentional suicide by overdose at the age of only 36. Like Elvis, she had lived fast and died young.

Michael actually survived the longest — he was already 50 years old when he died — and he actually had no intent of dying. He wanted to live (and stay young) forever. However, his skin cancer caused him too much pain, and he kept on asking his physician for more painkillers, which then ultimately led to his accidental death due to an overdose.

    Out of the box ...

A mysterious robot is sent to an unhappy couple.
It forces them to face their issues.

    The Purchase

Liz and Shane are a couple that share a house, but not much else anymore. They've recently hit some conflict, with Shane being hostile and refusing to talk to Liz, and Liz is left on her own emotionally to deal with her feelings.

When their smart device's algorithmically-driven automatic shopping service sends Liz a very questionable purchase, the item dredges up past conflicts, old grievances and current discontent. As the purchase proves more and more difficult to send back -- or keep quiet -- Liz and Shane must confront the simmering discontent in their relationship and decide what to do next.

Directed and written by Patrick Townsend, this sci-fi short is both an incisive, intriguing examination of how algorithms could penetrate the more private and emotional corners of our daily lives and a portrait of a disintegrating marriage falling apart from resentment and an inability to communicate honestly. Even with certain moments of levity, it's thought-provoking, well-crafted and intelligently wrought on both accounts, making for an unusually emotionally resonant cautionary tale.

“Hostile Architecture” has many purposes, but should it be used against NYC’s most vulnerable? There are examples of this type of design all over the city, some by private companies, and others by the city itself.

In that case, Brother Gio, I solemnly invite you to partake in the new virtual reality game I've created back in April...

I've just decided I'm going to create a new augmented-reality game, to be played by way of one's smartphone. The game will employ the smartphone's built-in high-resolution cameras to overlay game-specific visual elements onto the three-dimensional real-world environment of the player.

The objective of the player is to locate Social Justice Warriors™ and virtually tag them on screen with a gender-neutral third-person pronoun. Every Social Justice Warrior™ can be tagged up to five times, provided that they are being tagged by different players — only one tag per player is allowed for each Social Justice Warrior™. Every time the player tags a Social Justice Warrior™, they get ten (10) points.

One exception to the rule of five allowed tags per Social Justice Warrior™ is when one encounters a Social Justice Warrior™ of a specific type called a Snowflake™, which can be encountered at random places in the augmented reality map of the environment. Snowflakes™ may be tagged only once in order to not cause any trauma resulting from social stigma, but unlike with regular Social Justice Warriors™, tagging an as yet untagged Snowflake™ yields the player twenty (20) points.

There is however a catch: while attempting to tag regular Social Justice Warriors™ beyond their maximum of five allowed tags simply results in an on-screen error message, any attempt to tag an already tagged Snowflake™ will cost the player fifteen (15) points. Also, if the player mistakenly tags an individual who is not a Social Justice Warrior™, then the player will equally lose fifteen (15) points.

All throughout the game, the player will also encounter strategically dispersed virtual — i.e. on-screen-only — characters in either human or animal form that act as ChatGPT-powered interactive guides to where Social Justice Warriors™ and Snowflakes™ can be discovered, but here too there is a catch: some of the characters appearing as guides are actually MAGAlodons™ — named after an extinct species of giant sharks — that will attempt to lure the player into tagging individuals who are not Social Justice Warriors™ and/or into tagging an already tagged Snowflake™, either action of which will cost the player fifteen (15) points, as explained above.

The challenge starts on the 1st of May 2023 and runs until the 31st of December 2023. On the 31st of January 2024, the three highest-ranking and ten lowest-ranking players will be officially notified via email by a registered member of the US Democratic National Committee.

    • The highest-ranking of the three winners shall obtain the indisputable legal right to freely drive around in one of Volodomir Zelenskyy's new Leopard tanks — albeit while respecting all locally applicable speed limits and other traffic regulations, of course — for the duration of one year. All fuel expenses for the Leopard tank shall be paid for by the citizens of the European Union.

    • The two remaining runner-up winners will be given a chance to partake in — and film with their smartphones (in portrait mode!), so that they can upload it to their favorite social media accounts — the next sabotage of an international gas pipeline by an unnamed NATO member state, as well as an exquisite dinner at the best vegan restaurant in Taiwan under a fully protective armed escort from the US Secret Service.

    • All three winners also get an autographed and framed A3-sized full-color photo of Joe Biden in an antiqued birdseye maple frame, and a lifetime free pass to attend all meetings of the US Trilateral Commission as a spectator.

The ten worst-scoring players will also be rewarded, albeit with a free lifetime membership at Project MAGAlon™ — with a handwritten pledge from El Sombrero™ himself that these members shall not be banned for at least five years, regardless of their online behavior — as well as a high-quality all-weather MAGA hat and an autographed and stainless-steel-framed A2-sized color photo of Donald Trump in full Orange Jesus™ makeup, and with his baldness tastefully combed over by the skillful hands of Stormy Daniels Melania Krauss-Trump.

The game is called Wokemon Go ®, and will be freely downloadable under the terms and conditions specified by the Creative Commons License.

I love the idea of having a tank, I've always wanted one particularly for morning commutes but it goes back much further.

I think there is a real market for it!

The once-in-a-century flood that brought hope
    to drought-stricken communities

    60 Minutes Australia

    Nov 14, 2023
In 2010 following a once-in-a-hundred-year drought in the Australian outback that lasted a decade, communities welcomed a mighty flood that cover an area half the size of Europe. Heavy rains have quenched the dry lands, cutting off farms from land access and threatening livestock, but the locals have never been happier. With the water, the land came alive.
The farmers talking about how good they feel, and how grateful they are for that psychological boost, gives you a small idea of the depression ad struggle that our farmers have to live with for decades.

Spain - Water scarcity in a vacation paradise

    DW Documentary

    Nov 16, 2023
Water shortages in southern Europe are becoming an increasingly ominous problem. In Spain, the situation in 2023 is so acute that the worst-hit region of Catalonia had to introduce drastic water-saving measures back in April.

The summer of 2023 was marked with record temperatures and aridity. Spain is now facing a huge challenge: How to distribute precious water supplies sensibly and fairly? Ultimately, it’s not just private households that need water. Water is also key to economic sectors like farming and tourism. Conflicts are unavoidable. This documentary explores the reasons for water scarcity in Spain, looks at the impact of water scarcity in Catalonia and Andalusia and at the tourism industry’s response to the crisis. How is aridity and heat impacting vacations? Can tourists do anything to ease the situation?
