I'll be going more Adeptus Sororitas. Sans sword or boltgun.

I made the costume myself. (not modeled after this, but not dissimilar)

Here's a real life cosplay character. I'm not this good. Not yet anyway.

I'm more of a Sister-of-Battle on vacation (though the Imperium does not exactly grant such a thing)

(For those who don't know, WarHammer 40K)

That's so cool! I used to paint Warhammer 40K figures, my brother always bought them when he was younger.

We still have all of my son's. We also have a nice collection of Talisman miniatures, both metal and plastic.

The sculptors will be losing jobs to 3D printing.

Is this music? Did someone break into his car and leave an accordion? (just teasing, I like accordions and concertinas)

    Don't know the book.

    From Goodreads:

    Thomas Ligotti

    Genre
    Horror, Literature & Fiction

    Influences
Schulz, Cioran, Lovecraft, Poe, Machen, U.G. Krishnamurti ...more

Thomas Ligotti is a contemporary American horror author and reclusive literary cult figure. His writings, while unique in style, have been noted as major continuations of several literary genres—most prominently Lovecraftian horror—and have overall been described as works of "philosophical horror", often written as philosophical novels with a "darker" undertone which is similar to gothic fiction. The Washington Post called him "the best kept secret in contemporary horror fiction"; another critic declared "It's a skilled writer indeed who can suggest a horror so shocking that one is grateful it was kept offstage."
Sound like if horror is what you like, he's a good author to check out. Having read some Stephen King, I'll say that it's not my main thing. Some things are just hard to get out of the mind.

I once read one horror book from Stephen King and that was enough, I already have enough nightmares to begin with. I don't need more! In my teen years I had a horror phase, I read certain books and watched some scary movies, but especially the spooky paranomal stuff always got to me and it sticks in the mind. That's why I almost never watch them anymore, books are even worse.

I did recently loan a collection of HP Lovecraft's best stories from the library and that might have been a mistake, but curiosity got the best of me (famous last words). Not sure if I will be able to read it. The slasher and serial killer stuff barely did anything to me, I don't find the human element scary. I intend to watch The Shining again though, but boy is that movie creepy!

Try Peter Straub or in particular Dean Koontz (he's the greatest) ... next to Edgar Allan Poe, of course.

Poe is good. The Cask of Amontillado, which I read in high school, is still one of my favorite stories. Creepy with a rather horrifying end but not so disturbing as to bother me. I think the horror which leaves much up to the imagination is the best.

    I never like gratuitous gore.
