Thus This and That on Man’s Stupidity Set Forth

state of affairs in all phases of this and that put it forth:

    Carl Jung on “Man’s Stupidity”

Our striving focused on sagacity and intellectual superiority, and we hence developed all our cleverness.

But the extraordinary extent of stupidity inherent in all men was disregarded and denied.

But if we accept the other in us, we also evoke the particular stupidity of our nature.

Stupidity is one of man's strange hobbyhorses.

There is something divine about it, and yet something of the megalomania of the world.

Which is why stupidity is really large.

It keeps away everything that could induce us to intelligence.

It leaves everything not understood which is not naturally supposed to demand understanding.

This particular stupidity occurs in thought and in life.

Somewhat deaf somewhat blind, it brings about necessary fate and keeps from us the virtuousness coupled with rationality.

It is what separates and isolates the mixed seeds of life, affording us thus with a clear view of good and evil, and of what is reasonable and what not.

But many people are logical in their lack of reason"

    I'll start:

    Why do wars start?

    The Recipe for War

This is grossly oversimplified, but it's basically not much different than robbery. That other country has something we want, let's take it away from them. The "something" can be land, resources, people (to convert to a different religion, for work, etc). The "something" can also be power, if the war-starting country perceives "the other guys" to be powerful, and decides to take them out before they get too powerful.

Take a big dose of greed, add in a few dashes of fear, and season with a disregard for human life, and you get the recipe for war.

Jung - War - Plastics. These are the three words I gleaned from glancing through the thread thus far.

Jung - My understanding of Yung is this: He and Freud were at the forefront of what we now know to be psychoanalysis and psychotherapy and subsequently the area of medical science commonly referred to as, Mental Health.

Apparently at the onset Yung and Freud were aligned in their beliefs and the direction that their area of medical science would travel. Yung clung to the belief that the Human spirit and psyche and dreamstate and such, are all an integral component set of Human Beings. Freud began a focus on sex. They eventually went their separate directions. Anyone who has read anything about both Yung and Freud can still, to this day see that their initial beliefs are still in place.

Freud, to the best of my understanding became involved with the cabal/illuminati/whatever and was paid (can't prove that but can't disprove it either) to focus on sex and of course, this he did. He even left his wife to marry a very much younger female relative. Join the dots on that one if you will. Also - and - there are ample photographs to justify this comment; Freud had a long interest in artefacts connected to Egypt and the dark arts.

War - At this point in my life I see all wars as military/government constructs. This is where Humans not otherwise prone to killing other Humans - are trained to kill. They become paid murderers employed by their government. I also have an understanding that wars are primarily about resources contained in the land that is being invaded. Killing your own kind is never a good thing. We all bleed the same blood and cry the same tears. Perhaps the politicians should fight the wars they so seem to need. To all those sacrificed in all senseless wars: Rest In Peace & Guide Us In Benevolent Spirit.

Plastic - I note that here in Australia the plastic bags we have all grown to rely on at the supermarket and other shops, are being phased out. Cannot help but think of the Helegian Dialect. Create a problem (the plastic bags) - React (oh yes they are a problem now after all these years) - Supply a Solution (let's get rid of them). I see this as a control mechanism. After ensuring the plastic bags were firmly entrenched into our lifestyles, let's remove them and see how well people evolve. Perhaps we should never have had them in the first place.

One more comment on plastics is about the biprophynols (not sure of the spelling but I am sure someone here can correct me) which is an odourless gas that is given off by all plastic products. From tupperware and take away containers to anything held in a plastic container - will be giving off a gas you cannot see nor smell. It is believed to be the cause of a lot of Human health issues. Look at the underside of any plastic container and there should be a number - that number will indicate what type of plastic has been used and thus what type of biprophynol is being emitted.

Looking forward to reading through the posts in this thread. Am currently knee deep in reading: Musical Truth by Mark Devlin. Listening to music has taken on a very new meaning ....

Much Respect & Much Peace - Amanda

Have you heard of Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks? It focuses on music and the brain.

Oliver Sacks is definitely not stupid.

And I was just mulling this morning over a certain family member's choice to be ignorant about a great deal of things.

    Stupid.

    Man's stupidity for today's pondering:

While I'm not a pot smoker I would really like to benefit from the healing I've been aware of regarding cancer and wish the hell they'd get off their ass and do some serious research!

    Meanwhile surplus:

Reports: Oregon has pot oversupply, Colorado hits the mark

ORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two of the first states to broadly legalize marijuana took different approaches to regulation that left Oregon with a vast oversupply and Colorado with a well-balanced market. But in both states prices for bud have plummeted.

A new Oregon report by law enforcement found nearly 70 percent of the legal recreational marijuana grown goes unsold, while an unrelated state-commissioned Colorado study found most growers there are planting less than half of their legal allotment — and still meeting demand.

The reports offer case studies for California and other pot-friendly states as they ramp up their legal pot industries. They also underscore some key differences in how broad legalization was handled that have helped shape differently evolving markets in each state.

The Oregon study released by the Oregon-Idaho High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area — a coalition of local, state and federal agencies — includes the medical and general-use markets and the illegal market, despite gaps in data on illicit marijuana grows.

It noted Oregon still has a serious problem with out-of-state trafficking and black market grows — and the top federal law enforcement officer in Oregon demanded more cooperation from state and local officials Thursday in a strident statement.

NC bills would legalize possessing up to 4 ounces of marijuana for personal use
    Jun 4, 2018

A Forsyth County legislator is sponsoring a Senate bill that would make it legal to possess up to four ounces of marijuana for personal use.

Senate Bill 791, and companion House Bill 994, would allow people to possess up to four ounces before before they could be charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor.

Sen. Paul Lowe (D-Forsyth), the bill’s primary sponsor, said he introduced the bill in an effort “to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana. This is heading in the right direction.”

Currently, possession of one-half of an ounce or less of a controlled substance is a Class 3 misdemeanor. That is punishable by up to 20 days of an active jail sentence — which typically is suspended — or a requirement of community service.

By contrast, a Class 1 misdemeanor is punishable by up to 120 days of an active sentence.

The bills would exempt up to four ounces of marijuana from being considered a controlled substance.

The bills also would raise the weight of marijuana an individual can possess from 1.5 ounces to a pound before it qualifies as a Class 1 felony, which is punishable by up to five months’ active sentence period.

Jim O’Neill, district attorney for Forsyth County, said the bills should be “thoroughly vetted, and must include and consider the scientific community’s evidence of the damage caused to the developing adolescent brain caused by marijuana smoking.”

O’Neill said he considers Lowe “a friend and someone I truly respect, but to characterize four ounces of marijuana as a user amount would be absurd.”

“Conservatively speaking, four ounces of marijuana has a street value of $1,000 and can be broken down into about 120 marijuana cigarettes.”

The bills would leave the amount of hashish unchanged at no more than one-twentieth of an ounce to avoid a Class 1 misdemeanor, and no more than three-twentieths of an ounce to avoid a Class 1 felony.

Joining Lowe in sponsoring SB791 is Sens. Milton “Toby” Fitch Jr., D-Nash, and Valerie Foushee, D-Orange. Fitch, who was appointed to the Senate on March 23, is a retired Superior Court judge. The bill, introduced Thursday, was sent to the Senate rules committee.

HB994 is sponsored by Rep. Kelly Alexander Jr., D-Mecklenburg. The bill, also introduced Thursday, was sent to the House Judiciary committee. If approved by that committee, it would go to the Finance committee.

The laws would go into effect July 1 if approved by the Republican-controlled General Assembly and signed by Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper.

However, it’s unlikely either bill advances out of committee, in part given GOP legislative leaders’ focus on passing a non-amended state budget for 2018-19 and on school safety legislation. Those leaders also have said their goal is to end the current session by the Fourth of July weekend.

With respect to previous convictions, the bills allow individuals found guilty of possessing four ounces or less of marijuana to file a petition in Superior Court in the county in which they were convicted. There would be a $100 cost to file the petition.

A judge could conduct a hearing on the petition and determine whether an expunction of the conviction is warranted. If an expunction is granted, all law enforcement agencies would be required to expunge their records of the conviction as well.

O’Neill said that with the majority of murders and robberies in the local community “already drug related, why in heavens would we want to increase the number of targeted victims legally walking (with four ounces of marijuana) around every day.”

According to Leafbuyer, a pro-marijuana website, there are eight states — Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon and Washington — that allow for legal recreational possession of marijuana. Those states limit how much can be possessed at one time.

“Federal law continues to prohibit marijuana sales and consumption, causing each state to craft laws and regulations governing their pot industry along with a unique framework,” according to Leafbuyer.

The website said that “limits on how much weed you have on your person, as opposed to the volume you can possess at home, comes down to the word intent.”

“In the eyes of the law, setting a limit on how much a person age 21 or older can possess while in public sends a clear message.

“Carry anything above this, and we’ll consider you more likely to be distributing the substance illegally. Or at least you’re a person with some suspicious behavior patterns.”

The two marijuana weight-limitation bills represent a different legislative effort than bills submitted in April 2017 that would legalize marijuana in North Carolina for medical purposes — Senate bills 579 and 649 and House Bill 185.

None of those medical marijuana bills advanced out of committee.

North Carolina is one of 20 states that does not have a form of a medical marijuana law or legalized marijuana use.

So they are thinking about upping the amount of pot for "personal use".....but have nothing to offer for medical use?

    Another example of Man's stupidity!

My suggestion would be not to give a 2nd thought to 'law' in your case...no human jury could or would convict ...
