    I'm a poopoohead

This thread is for all of us sh*theads who can't express ourselves to the extent our natures and personalities demand.

    How 'bout this one:

Row, row, row your boat, underneath the stream.

Ha, ha, I fooled you, I'm a submarine.

Holy Crap! Did you see how many thanks were on the OP? (Just kidding).

I try hard not to be a poopoohead. The biggest challenge is deciding when to give people the piece of my mind they deserve and when not to. Gotta choose your battles.

So...recently my husband and I talked about communication. I've been doing the things he asked consistently and in spite of whether or not he was. He's been half-listening, second-guessing, jumping to conclusions, acting pissy when I clarify... It's really annoying. He's being a poopoohead.

So the issue for me is when and where to act. Life has a nice way of providing opportunities and I feel like one will be coming soon...

Big picture, his job has been stressing him out big-time and he's just gotten a new one. He's already less stressed even though he's still finishing out his time in his current work place. So he's reaching a place in his head where he'll actually be able to talk and communicate without being driven by stress and emotion. Then, when we do talk, he'll take it to heart instead of making excuses and getting defensive.

And then he's not a poopoohead.

My husband's mom really loved them when they came out. We read them. My husband also liked the Richard Bach books for the most part. He's less new age than his mom was. She had a bad experience in the Baptist church. She was able to get close to God through her New Age readings. And the music was quite lovely.

Wyndham Hills, David Arkenstone...they take you on a journey.

yeah, Amen...at least you're giving him the benefit of the doubt...Look into your heart and try to look into his...and then try to decide what things really are. You don't by any stretch seem over-reactive and that is a very good thing for the situation. Consider his emotional baggage and try to understand what that means in the here and now. How long have you been married? Long term relationships are so weird. My dad and step-mother were married for 50 years, she died last year at age 94 and my dad is now 94...At times they probably believed they hated each other, they fought probably everyday for those 50 years but they stayed together. A different generation for sure. I brought that same mentality to my relationships. What I didn't realize until it was too late was that the whole time my dad had been posturing (actually I knew it) but that didn't prevent me from playing the same game without the posturing unfortunately. I never knew when to say enough is enough. I was very self-destructive...I never wanted to forego ego because I thought it would be shameful to admit even to myself that I needed anybody or anything enough to say, OK.

Which is why my daughter is so important to me. In her I found the true meaning of unconditional love and it literally overwhelmed, scared me, left me in awe, she's my child and I owe her everything, after all, I brought her into this mess we call life. She is my only true connection of what came before me and what shall be after me. It's amazing.

As for battles, sometimes circumstances just provide many more to choose from...
