This is a movie of the sunspot that just flared as it was leaving our sight.

I've created BBcodes for embedding that type of videos now. So far it works with .mp4, .ogg and .webm, but I might be able to extend that with other formats in the future.

    Here's what it looks like...:

The BBcode tag to use is "[mov]", with a matching closing tag.

Please people, rest assured that the sun is not doing anything unprecedented. Apart from the many professional needs to observe and report the sun and its effects on Earth, tens of thousands of radio amateurs also routinely observe (mostly indirectly) the sun and its effects on the ionosphere. I do. Nothing particularly weird noted for the past 100-odd years.

We keep hearing various fear-porn reports about extraordinary solar activity, but it's actually fairly quiet. That does not mean another Carrington Event is impossible, just that it's no more likely than it has been in the past 150 years.

As for 'imminent Earth magnetic pole flip', well that is just bollocks. (Pardon my language - but it is!).

Oh, how does the sun affect the noosphere these days compared to the past ?

...while I’d love it if you were right, personal observation has shown the sun is changing and my modeling has a sun event above 95% probability.

In what ways do you mean? How far in the past? At what frequencies and which latitudes? During which seasons? We only have good-ish observations over the past couple of centuries. It's effects on the ionosphere only noted since the 1920s!

Interesting. But what observations are you making? Which parameters are you studying and over how long? Are you using your own calibrated instrumentation or using those publicly available? What 'sun event' are you suggesting, how intense and over what period is this 95% probability; weeks, months, years...?

Even solar physicist realise that 'accurate' observations have only been made since the 1800s - and then it depends what is meant by 'accurate' - so we don't really know what we've seen during that period is 'normal' or not. The observed activity over the past ten decades or so might be high, low or average over thousands of years. What is certain is that the sun is relatively stable or life would not have evolved as it has, particularly over the past 10,000 years or so.

Solar cycle 19 (which peaked in the late 1950s) is memorable amongst HF radio propagation engineers as one with an incredibly high sunspot number and solar flux allowing all sorts of radio communication via the ionosphere (even at night) that had rarely been noted before or since. But so what? It had no noticeable effect on anything else. Where does this activity rate in your observations?

    Babs

Once, a shaman woman said, no eyes was her name, from memory, that the above planets, stars etc had no effects upon Earth, I emmediately let her material go, taking what helped, moved on. Being neither blind and having all the other senses, easy. Most systems similar to ours have two or three suns imo, we have one, maybe a binary some believe. This Sun changes constantly, every minute, hour, moon etc over a vast amount of time, it affects everything, even neighbouring systems and galaxies imo, the Sun is alive and has a consciousness, as does Earth imo. Feelings had by you, me, Sun, Earth etc are connected to each other imo, you change because of your feelings, the Sun then changes imo also.

The noosphere, believed to be about 11.000 miles up, above, around the Earth, changes, and is affected by everything thing around it, imo and from my experience, one can work as such with the noosphere , in fact being the collective mind as such, imo everyone is affecting and also the creation force of the noosphere.

ps off to rant or annoyed thread, like pah indeed the sun not change

Sorry, I misinterpreted the 'noosphere' as 'ionosphere' - my mistake. AFAIK this is the first time I've come across the word.

I've since done a little reading up. As a concept it appears not to have actually been detected or measured so not sure how its altitude is determined. To me it appears to be a classic case of unfalsifiability. Which is maybe the bread and butter of the some content on this and similar forums. Just like religion, ghosts, UFOs, etc. although it's arguable the last two have a great deal of anecdotal evidence suggesting their reality.

(Sorry, drifted off topic. This thread is about measurable solar activity.)

    Excellent. Thank you.

I'm not personally afraid of anything or trying to spread fear. The sun could do something, I could have an accident, A huge storm (another one) could come, lightening could strike, who knows?

Ben is outside the mainstream obviously. He seems sincerely interested in following the sun's activity as well as tracking it's relation to earthquakes.

I go to SDO to get sun images because they're updated regularly. That, of course, is mainstream.

I'm not personally doing scientific research on the sun, I'm neither equipped nor qualified.

And I'm still learning about the noosphere. That was a good summary, Aianawa.

No eyes is who Mary Summer Rain met and worked with. I don't recall the bit about the sun and stars but I don't doubt you.
