Modwiz Presents The Music of Butch Robbins

I have been playing with Butch Robbins for two years now. We have found our drummer and the band is called Unkl Butchie. This thread will feature the music of Butch Robbins focusing mainly on the songs we will be playing with Unkl Butchie albeit, in the more modern form that Butch always wanted in his music. He is a musician and not a "Blue Grass" player only. Unkl Butchie refuses to pick a genre for our music because music is universal at its heart.

This thread will develop more when Unkl Butchie begins to have its own recorded material to post heading towards Summer. Until then I wish to acquaint people with the talent that is, Butch Robbins.

This song is named after a Speedway (race cars) in the South and is a song we play currently in Unkl Butchie. A comparison will be presented in the future. For now, please enjoy.

Also, if you enjoyed it, please open the you tube page and like it. The current two thumbs up is a shame.

I will repost a video from a rehearsal, which is good enough for a preview. "40 Years Late" is a Butch Robbins original.

Unkl Butchie is not a blue-grass band, it is a banjo-led band.

Here is an older version that is not Unkl Butchie.

Thank you. Any thumbs up for Butch will be appreciated. (Yes, one must click on the video to go to YouTube)

I am keeping my sanity by looking for things we like/love in common and, music can be one of them.

The uploader has not made this video available in your country
But I found a whole swag of Butch Robins videos by one Yewtuber. Might be one of your boys?

We don't see much of the banjo on the NZ airwaves. I quite like it. There's a certain kind of cheeky force behind the tones that skips and flutters.

Yeah it looks to be that those work. Gee are they all also written by him? I kind of recognised "I might too".

It is a mix of traditional Appalachian with his own songs. Some of the old fiddle tunes we play really kick with our trio and a bass player (me) who honors the 'feel' while jazzing things up a bit. Thank you for your interest.

Bill Monroe, is the man who invented the Blue Grass music style/genre. Butch was his banjo player for years. Here is a video showing Butch's mastery of his instrument. Apologies to those like, Nothing, who may not be able to view this one. Short and blistering.

Thanks for the connection. There's a few I think.
I am starting to recognise a particular 'rift' which I 'resonate' with, which may well be somewhat disguised between different songs.

In music we have 'riffs'. Although sometimes rifts can occur about certain riffs.

"I Might Too" is a song Unkl Butchie will be including in our repertoire.

    Question

When you play with Unkl Butchie, is everyone tuned to your preferred "A equals 432 Hz" tuning, or did you tune up to the concert pitch of "A equals 440 Hz"?
