Just for the record, it's Aragorn. Aragon is a region in Spain, and whatever moniker-du-jour Dumpster Diver refers to me with is either way bound to be wrong 99% of the time.

I stand corrected and make spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes all of the time. It's part of my charm. Hopefully it doesn't distract too much from my message and endless fount of wisdom.

Yes, I loved that book. It was a real eye opener about what was possibly behind the 60's music scene.

The one thing I disagree with McGowan about is that these groups had no talent. I think some of them had a lot of talent.

...for misdirection, since their music was written for them, and their instruments were played for them.

The music might be great, but these clowns didn’t write it.

Hmm, misdirection you say? Hendrix, Joplin, Santana, I'm pretty sure they all wrote their own music and spent time in Laurel Canyon. Probably others too but those three came to mind.

Indeed they did, and — to name the only survivor of the three you've brought up — Carlos Santana is still doing that to this very day. He even wrote and arranged music for John Lee Hooker (and others).

But how do you stop the busybody who want to run your life and the religious person who wants to run your soul?
    Dreamtimer,

As Aragon describes, the 'left' in the U.S is actually very far to the right, in this respect. Now imagine you let the current system run for a few decades and as a financier, you realize you have made as much money as you possibly can under the globalist system as it is currently structured. What would you do? You would find someone to break it apart....reaaaaallll good. Because out of chaos and wartime, be it abroad or at home, there is always money to be made.

Now, who would you choose to work covertly to smash things apart? Would you choose CIA operatives, the NSA? No, they represent the older guard. They are probably globalists for the most part. You would develop networks of contacts within the military--and the Navy might be the best option, but you would cover as many bases as possible. These people probably tend to be more nationalistic, more patriotic. They have their own intelligence networks. Cambridge Analytica is chaired by many former military, on its board.

So...you have your boy in power and he might just represent an overthrow of the old system. It's possible. But, yes, think of how he was elected and think too about how closely this man, personality wise and mandate wise resembles Yeltsin, tasked with the same thing. Break the country part, sell it off, create a NEW oligarch class.

Those "average Joesky's" who were solidly behind Yeltsin suffered terribly after the old state was demolished. Russia, formerly rather bleak and grey became a place of utter horror.

This could easily be the fate of the U.S. in years to come. Those who are focussed on divisive issues like guns,,or the idea that an armed population would stand a chance against what is left of their own government with advanced weapons, are kidding themselves.

Look at what is happening in budgetary terms. Every program cut while military budgets expand!

Okay, it's a pretty big leap from saying someone has talent to worshipping them as Gods...even for Batman. FWIW, I think Devlin is talented too, in his own right, as was McGowan.
