    The Psychology of Self-Actualization

In case people here aren't viewing my humble thread on the other forum (don't worry, I won't advertise it ), here's a very important and current video from perhaps the best philosophy related channel on Youtube.

As I've been trying to wrap my head around Jung's ideas in the past few years I have noticed that these videos explain those concepts quite well and concisely.

I will probably be later posting more of videos from the channel, which are especially related to Jung's work.

Makes sense doesn't it? Especially in these tumultuous times self-reflection is crucial.

    Because I like your contributions,
    and well, others have flown,
    in foot stamping cloud.
    A random oblique,
    essentially saying,
    thanks for your presence.

Patience is one of my few virtues. If I like something, I stick to it. This forum is something I like and I don't see why I would start to dislike it.

Thank you for your presence too, Nothing. I have to say, your name "Nothing" puzzles me. You seem to be much more than that.

Nice reply. And thanks. Yes, a silly name in the end. I asked myself, what do I want to say in my screen name? I have had so many. People have different ones which they say what they feel or what they are about or want to put forth. I thought, well I don't really want to say anything, nothing. Be innocuous. But it sort of ended up weird and potentially feeling like it IS trying to say something.
    Too late now!

Embrace your inner darkness. Caress it, understand it, learn from it. Strive to understand why it exists, because most likely it is there the make you better. Because if you can’t understand your darkness, you can’t understand your goodness.

Not necessarily. We've "renamed" members before, you know.

I do not agree with that. One does not have to have any darkness inside in order to understand the difference between darkness and light. All that is required is for darkness to exist somewhere within one's awareness.

    Shadow, rather than darkness.

Sometimes the more light you shine on something the more shadows you create.
By standing in the light, you will always be casting a shadow, one which can be easily forgotten.
And then upon realising the shadow is forever following, one may try to step away, maybe thinking they can completely remove the shadow, or perhaps just attempting to control where it is cast, out of consideration for where it is landing.
Sometimes a shadow helps describes the contours of the surface it is being projected on. But again, sometimes it all goes unnoticed.
I suppose something as transparent as glass does not create shadows. But on the same note, windows can be quite complicit in making them.

An NZ movie some may have seen, which has a few mechanisms to describe the shadow is Once Were Warriors. Well I see it as shadow mechanisms. Shadow of culture to a point, shadow of the warrior spirit maybe. The energy of darkness, the tow of the shadow that lures towards darkness.

Warning it is quite disturbingly violent.

Another copy, equally bad quality, if you can find a better copy, that would be advised!
