Here's the question:
Do we have examples where humanity as a/an individual have overcome the animal conditioning. It has been said by Pontiffs that we are capable due to our human reasoning. But in another sense, social conditioning tells us that people that have demonstrated a denial of their animal natures are dysfunctional. Interesting huh.

Classical double bind as Krishnamurti pointed out. Jung reflected on the contradictions of conscious behavior/thoughts and the unconcious drives. Social engineering? Conditioning can convince us to find a balance between us and them. To view compromise as a win/win rather than to condition us to believe the ideal is the more base animalistic approach of survival of the fittest.

Trump is our best example of the base approach to life. His supporters are true believers that this is the way it should be. It's animal in its nature.
Jesus is the best example of the antithesis.

It is a decent philosophy (Horney), the speaker is interesting...but one jacked-up reality exists. Science has taught us with ever more certainty that much of our daily mental and emotional life is guided by organic mechanisms. It's a spectrum of mental health or lack of it that lends the utility to the approach. To and for what is appropriate.

As I've been trying to wrap my head around Jung's ideas in the past few years I have noticed that these videos explain those concepts quite well and concisely.

I will probably be later posting more of videos from the channel, which are especially related to Jung's work.

Makes sense doesn't it? Especially in these tumultuous times self-reflection is crucial.

I'm late to the show, but just so happened to stumble across this "Academy OF Ideas" YouTube channel recently. Good stuff, very good stuff, and a nice varying array of fascinating subjects and very smart insightful people to study. Philosophers both ancient and modern, thinkers, psychologists, etc.

I'm now subscribed and check out a couple or so videos every morning before work. Also hands down I would give this channel my highest recommendation.

This one I watched earlier today on Edward Bernays and his uncle Sigmond Freud is an excellent overview on the basics of societal manipulation, made possible through intimate knowledge of group psychology. Knowing people much better than they know themselves, which leads right back to your "self-reflection is crucial".

Another classic from this channel. A couple of main things stuck their heads up for me took look at here:

- In Buddhism, the paradise Bardo "Realm of the Gods" is not one to be aspired to. No matter how wonderful, ideal, exquisite, every desire served kind of place it is, in the final analysis, you eventually stagnate and whither. You fall from grace, much like how muscles atrophy when not exercised.

- We all have our varying amounts of the described "free time", and there is nothing inherently wrong with that, but the question then begs: WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT? As is described in Pink Floyd's "Time", do you "fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way", or do you take advantage of and employ a good chunk of that free time to learn new things, practice, experience, create, contemplate, etc., in order to better yourself?

- As the video basically says we humans need stimuli, and we stagnate without it. Our free time can be a blessing or a curse, much as fire can warm us in the cold, or burn our house to the ground. It's all in how we handle it.

That sounds good as any competing theory to me. So in true Socratic fashion it begs the question: Why are such the vast majority of us, especially here in alternative forum world of the supposed "enlightened", so thoroughly dissatisfied with the nature of our present existence, that we continually reach out grasping for relief from some vague future event that may never happen?

The truly wise of the Ages advise emphasis on the present, not the future.

I doubt that God would be bored but the 'source' might require 'another' reason for existence, beyond that things would get pretty pointless.

Many potential Universes may exist, obviously including ours.

The Qabbalah's interpretation of "Let there be light and there was light", when following a strict interpretation of the original language suggests that it means, "Let there be Life and let there be a resistance to Life". An important distinction that can be viewed as a reflection of our existence. Life needs to exist for its own purposes, but life must also resist existence as to not languish in a form of stasis indefinitely.
