<sigh> This is not a criticism, Wind. It is a question I posited to a former philosophy professor. Do these philosophers have any opinions that actually reflect reality. His reply was that it was the nature of 'noted' philosophical study.

The only one that I ever actually agreed with was Hegel and his dialectic. It is what everyday life is truly about. And most people spend their lives fretting about that very fact.

    Sorry folks...

I read an opinion on Brand (and it has always been my impression) that he is more idiot than savant...

    My final decision on Peterson:
    He's a narcissistic pr*ck!

Bear in mind that it is just my opinion...nothing more, nothing less.

Why am I put off by all of this:
Because the underlying motivation is one of a rejection of society as an evolving entity...one that is inevitably positive in the sense of a developing continuum. Peterson has focused on a snapshot of history, present, and future as one that he doesn't like because it doesn't satisfy his 'lower' sense of what should be. To put it in other words...he is motivated by his negativity, not a desire for equality, egalitariansim, universal love (I hate saying that word) , and positive change. In my estimation that's the ultimate suckiness, hell call it sickness if you will.

To this date I've only truly liked a few philosophers such as Marcus Aurelius and Alan Watts. From the rest of them I'm always willing to learn more, but I don't take their thoughts as gospel. I certainly don't have any PhD's in philosophy, but I have found philosophy's value in life irreplaceable. Then again, I have a highly introspective personality so I can only speak on my own behalf.

"You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." ~ Marcus Aurelius

I tend to spend more time with the laptop than the phone. It's much easier to navigate, listen to one thing while looking at another, see well enough to read, and I can edit and embed and do so many things with much more ease.

    I've never owned a tablet.

If someone can 'fix' the tendency to 'external locus of control' it seems much social malaise could be addressed. To someone with an internal motivation there is no end.

While there are social elements to psychosis, it also has strong elements of organic malfunction...It doesn't occur without both elements in place.
