    When you look at a Periodic Table, you will see that Silicon is just under Carbon. That means both elements have 4 electron in the outer shell so they can react with many other elements in similar fashion:

    but AI does not need silicon to "live"

    I think it's a little naive to think that just because "Visitors" (whoever they may be) haven't made an overt attempt to take control of Earth that it wouldn't be possible or probable that its been done by more subtle, equally nefarious means.

    Not that we should consider all "aliens" evil but caution would be prudent.

    I don't see many reasons why they wouldn't be as diverse as us in thought and opinion.

    It has been speculated that the alien thought process would almost certainly be considered insane by us. I'm sure the reverse would also be true.
