Active Region 12192 unleashed a Major X1.1 solar flare at 05:03 UTC this morning. This spectacular long duration event implies a large coronal mass ejection (CME) will be following, however the ejecta seems to have a strong component heading well south of the ecliptic plane and not heading towards the earth. As yet no CME is visible in solar telemetry, stay tuned for updates.
Will be keeping an eye on this one, something tells me it will be popping some more.
