    Dream On

I've mentioned Robert Moss a couple times. I heard him interviewed years ago when he came out with Conscious Dreaming. I read that book and revisited it many times. He has a whole slew of books he's written, but I haven't read them all. Just a few.

He keeps it simple and he doesn't tell you what your dreams mean. He teaches people to know their own dreams and learn their way in the Dreamtime.

This touches on the power of the imagination and it's direct connection to dreaming.

Interesting! I’ll have to get one of his books. Btw, is this where your name comes from, Dreamy?

I picked the name Dreamtimer simply to indicate that I see dreams as paramount. The Dreamtime is akin to the source. I said something in one of my first posts about not being an expert on dreams but being in the Dreamtime often.

We all are, but many of us don't recall much of our dreams. I actually don't have very good dream recall, and I've learned tools over the years to help. But I don't need to specifically recall them to use their guidance in life because they work via my instincts.

There is tremendous power in the DreamTime.

Conscious Dreaming offered both exercises for dreamwork and stories from dreamers. Those were what I wanted to hear the most. I had no one to talk to about dreams and knew no dreamers and the stories he shared were wonderfully useful to me. The exercises are simple and effective, but that has not been my personal focus.

The Secret History of Dreaming is very interesting. From winning wars to discovering oil in the Middle East, dreams have been crucial. They bring forth 'real world' consequences.

Thanks. I have had many informative prescient dreams, I am with you on this one.

In fact how odd that now watching this fellow speak, along with the aha moments, I realised his face is exactly the same as an old friend who I hadn't heard from for 12 years, until I rang him about 45 mins ago.
"Sit up and take notice" is what I am being told by that. Especially after having one of those dreams last night which one knows is an important information download.

I could describe my whole life as a war against dreaming, or at least against remembering the damn things; could interpret all my addictions and habits as futile attempts at defense against recurrently finding myself lost, in ugly urban labyrinths, filled with a cast of thousands.

Hate them. But I'm probably [evidently?] missing the point...some of the very infrequent flying dreams rank amongst my happiest memories.

I used to have dreams where I was rescuing my husband from "the scary city". He would become frozen in fear and I would have to lead him out. Once I had a flashlight which was for light and also defense.

The best way to get past the fears in dreams, imo, is to face them. I've been doing that since I was a kid. Someone told me that as a piece of advice for life and I applied it to life and dreams. Dreams put it to the test immediately.

Well, that's fine for you, DT, but it's not a case of my being too afraid to look at/deal with the dream; I don't lack guts, in dreams or waking life.

It's not even about being afraid per se, much more like lost/worried/desolate, in an alienated, ugly, urban context I half-know, and waking up going,

"SH!T! Not again! What the hell am I supposed to do with that!"

Sorry, DMt. I don't mean to imply you're afraid. This one is a little longer. Once Robert gets going they hardly interrupt him. He speaks fast but clearly. I think you might find some useful tools and insights. Maybe they'll help you figure out what to do with those dreams.

I'm not surprised they hardly interrupt him! I suspect it might take powerful machinery to get him to stop talking, even for a moment...after about 15 minutes I just had to turn it off.

A pity, because the material itself is interesting. I'll have a look for the books.

Active Dreaming is the more recent incarnation of Conscious Dreaming which came out a couple of decades ago. One or the other would probably be your best first choice.

Here's an interview with Haraldur Erlandsson, whom I was not familiar with.

Thanks Dreamtimer, I enjoy visiting my own culture from time to time. Iceland is my people too as it was populated with a lot of people from Norway that didn't want to be converted by the sword, i.e. "Become Christian or leave, if not, we'll cut your head off!" There was a lot of small boats heading for Iceland back then. Their language is actually Old Norwegian.

Isn't it interesting that the Indian culture is similar to the Norse culture? (Just like the Bock Saga says, hey?) It is so nice to hear this again! Even the words are. Brahman…means "a good man" for example.

    So what I said….thank you….
