    I Am Amazing

    So am I.

The story of desert bush people having hunters gift them some animals they shot and hugely surprised that no thanks was given to them on fare welling.

This thread is about, do you need a pat on the back, a put up, a well done old chap or young lady, if so , why or why not ?

Sometimes. It more depends on the other person than me. If I feel good about what I've done that's usually enough. Sometimes I want to see acknowledgement so that I know people understand or appreciate. Sometimes I don't care. It's more important to me to feel right or good about what I've done or said than to get accolades or thanks.

Manners matter for civilized society so to that degree it's generally important.

There are also vast cultural differences. Sounds like that's what was going on with the bush people and the hunters.

Everything about me is amazing. Even my inability to achieve several simple tasks on a near daily basis.
The contrast of functional intelligence with pure stupidity in overdrive is also amazing, but mostly to others I suspect, as to me it seems more like a curse.

Do I need validation? Not really, I do like honesty though. I'm pretty capable of telling myself off or patting yself on the back, but when it comes from others honestly and constructively, it can help, calibrate the snow cone machine.

Expressing thanks is part of the essential dynamic of receiving a gift of any kind. Without this acknowledgment, the giver feels as if his or her gift made no real difference. They feel diminished, as a consequence.

    HI Nothing,

At least you're not stuck with pure intelligence and functional stupidity. Life could be worse! It's much better to be talented than smart!

Another facet of this thread will be defending ones lie/s, of oneself or about.
This is very important, imo, to depending on others energy/ies.

Yes, I too am amazing>>>>>I'm like the timex watch; I keep ticking even when under great suppression to stop..

I also like validation but don't need it. It is nice to know someone see's you but I can go it alone if need be. I like to validate others especially in areas of productivity, creations, authenticity, etc. and believe that we need to be heard and seen for the good things we do. Knowing how we affect others is valuable information. Therefore it is important to share how one affects someone else so that if one desires to continue to keep the behavior that creates certain outcomes they have a choice to do so or not. Sure beats saying you are sorry every time you turn around.

We all like to be valued in some way or other and it is important to give as much if not more postitve than negative feedback and validation...

Once upon a time there was a sensitive, shy boy who was used to being called everything negative under the sun. That boy happened to be me. What was the worst thing about being treated unfairly on a constant basis for years? I actually started to believe that I deserved to be treated like crap and those negative beliefs shaped my views about myself. I believed that I was a worthless nobody who had nothing to offer and that life would only consist of pointless suffering. Do I believe that anymore? No, I don't, thanks to the grace of God and loving support.

I am no one in particular and yet I am someone who feels quite happy about themselves if they are able to assist others in any way.

    I am that I am...

Those are lofty ideals, Wind, and that is the true beauty of it. We should always believe that we are all by birth worthy of dignity, even awe because we are all unique.

I don't lie to myself anymore. It doesn't last and takes too much energy.

I might conceal my natural honest or giving nature to a certain degree so as to avoid being taken advantage of. I've heard 'You're too nice' often enough. Recently I gave back change because the guy had given me a $20 instead of a $10 which meant he was essentially paying me to buy his product. Another person commented on how honest I was, somewhat in surprise.

But I would want a customer of mine to correct my mistake if I was in that position. To me, it's just the right thing to do. And what goes around most certainly does come around.
