    Hi Dreamtimer,

With perhaps Alexander Hamilton as the exception, to paraphrase Jaime Brockett, Hamilton was a banker by proclivity and by preference.

I don't know what happened 38 years ago, all I know is this: I'm 51, and I sure as hell hope no accusation comes forth of something I supposedly did say, from back when I was 20. It would be an immediate sleaze ball brand square up on my forehead, and good luck in proving my innocence through the court of public opinion. Especially if it were in a time such as this situation setting up before us.

Now as to the politics of this, why are they even in play here? How did this morph into a Left/Right issue, like the Left is somehow so much more pure than the Right in the 1st place?

Many Progressives feel a purge of all things Conservative would do the same, so where does that leave us?

Well first off, I have less respect for Trump than I have ever had for anyone in recent memory.

Now to answer your question It says to me the same would likely be true of any recent Pres, from either party. People tend to cling to their political heroes and ideologies like they would a life preserver in stormy seas, and that life preserver can do no wrong. The other guy's can be defective, but not mine.

    Hi Fred,

If not purer, a helluva lot less hypocritical...Give it up Fred. Forget that you were ever loyal to the right. It was a mistake and all you have to do is forgive yourself for it. And things will seem much brighter.

Do I sound like Jordan Sather....

Alabama is a nice state to be from. I should know as I’m from there (went to high school and college instate). As long as I can remember state politics are mostly based on hate.

To semiquote from another country song, Alabama in my rear view mirror is a good thing, I didn’t leave a thing there I need to go back for.

Funny Mr Diver...that's the way I feel about Kansas. I wouldn't wish that hell on anybody...

I lived in Lubbock while in graduate school. The saying there is, the best thing about Lubbock Texas is seeing it in your rear view mirror...and that's the God's truth...

I don't believe any one side is more guilty than the other. Sexual assault and abuse comes in all colors and both genders.

Since the Gingrich years, the religious right has been on the rise and been consolidating power through politics. When I was a kid, churches eschewed politics. Not now. Religious fervor is some of the most dangerous kind. I don't see anything parallel on the left. (There are some batshit people but they're not organized like the right has been).

When religion comes first, undermining rights and democracy happens easily. That's when you have scapegoats and people who are made an example of to keep the rest in line. Those scapegoats are the liberals. It's been built up for years now. They're the evil behind the NWO, they're not the ones on the side of God, they don't protect the 2nd Amendment, and on ad infinitum.

This has been happening throughout my life. If the right is losing cohesion now, that's only a good thing for the country, imo.

Well, if "the problem" is merely about the combination of religious fundamentalism coupled together with the Right wing political machine, then we have our culprit. In that case it can be solved through the ballot box, and that as they say, is that.

Hey Left, get your shit together and save this country would ya?

That's funny, Fred. But the left doesn't really exist anymore, imo. Hillary is a conservative. Even my dad said years ago that Bill Clinton was really more conservative than was recognized in the media or by Republicans.

All you really need to say is, Hey Americans, get out and vote and save us. Everyone to the left of very conservative is the left. That makes most of the country.

And I think that's gonna actually happen. People really are going to get off their keister and vote. Sure hope so, anyway. I still think it's better than the farce of an easy secession or civil war. (which Putin would love, because it would weaken and distract us.).

I was speaking Tongue and cheek about the ballot box, as I see my choice being between fascism in the extreme of one, and communism in the extreme of the other. A choice between two wings of the same totalitarian bird, the Crypts or the Bloods. Nah, NAP is correct I've been there done that (for the Bloods on the Right). Thanks,
    but I'll pass.

Now what's this of there being no real Left in America? Come on now DT, you sure you want to stick to that one?

Well, what I really mean is that what is considered conservative is so far to the right that by default most of the country is on the left. Which makes left so diverse in meaning as to hardly have any. Flake had to step down because he's not conservative enough. We've entered the realm of the ridiculous.

I don't see any organized parallel on the left for authoritarianism that can begin to compete with the corporations and the churches. Maybe I'm missing something.

Regarding false accusations, hopefully too much of that won't happen. Despite feeling safer now, most women don't really want to talk about this sort of thing. And they certainly don't profit from it. But if they don't speak, we can't stop it.

I've been falsely accused of things. I had to stand up for myself, demand evidence and not be bullied. I have a friend who became a defense attorney because he himself had faced criminal accusations and seen how little there was in place to protect the vulnerable and how hard it was for public defenders.

Down here in downunder, Labour, the left, is Red, and National, the right, is Blue.

I have been saying for years they are two wings of the same extinct dodo. But I liked that comment from whoever it was saying you never get both at once or have to choose a half.
That is exactly it, like being given a rubber ball that has been cut in half.

Anyway, I too hope some day soon some real progress is made in clearing the air of all this stuff. For the health and safety and well being of all.

I don't see any problems with the overall health of America's Left, other than being overly fixated on impeaching Trump. If that winds up not materializing as I expect it won't, something akin to the Tea Party Lefty style wouldn't surprise me in the least.

And what better energizing base than America's major universities? This has always been a stronghold of the Left, right? Ha Ha

Get the kids stoked, and watch the f**k out. Maybe their socialist candidate won't have the nomination stolen from them like happened this go around with Feel The Bern...

Major metro areas also are faithful Left, let's not forget that Hillary had 3 million more votes than Trump, and Obama had back to back landslide victories. Remember that 68% approval rating? He was a rock star! Now Jeff Flake may not be far Right enough for Steve Bannon, but neither are the likes of Rahm Emanuel, Obama's first Chief of Staff and mayor of Liberal Chicago, Liberal enough for The Young Turks crew.

The two sides are purifying and purging themselves of any sense of moderation, and they're both looking for that final kill shot.

Hang in there Lefties, the sun also rises and you'll sweep back into power to save us all from the Righties yet!
