    Where's the division, Fred? You said we were divided before when we weren't. I'm not seeing it.

    What am I missing?

    It's not a left/right division...It's a division of human values. If I were to defy all political identification I would still maintain that ALL human beings deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion by virtue of their God given humanity. And it's a done deal, that's all there is and there ain't no more.

    Not so much division between me and you Dreamtimer, much respect there we just differ on some things. When so many subjects are just boiled down to Left vs. Right - Liberal vs. Conservative (this means you too NAP), division inherently becomes part of the overall equation. That's why I keep referring to colors. "Which side are you on, what colors are you wearing". When it boils down to that in deciding who's the good guy and who's the bad guy, that is what I see as needless division.

    John McCain's Liberal World Order (aka New World Order) has absolutely *zero* to do with America's founding Liberal principles, and neither does today's Liberal Left for that matter. If we have to label everything we could label him a neocon, which of course has nothing to do with America's Liberal founding principles either.

    Does this explain where I'm coming from a little better?

    As long as we're still talking, we're still doing good.

    I've complained about this before: my brother has spent decades saying, "I don't have time to think. I don't have time to listen." He's not alone in his attitude. He was all over Gingrich's drive to stop dialogue with liberals and stop talking to the media. Gingrich is one of his heroes.

    It's ironic because he used to work for a TV station managing ad sales.

    It does, Fred.

    My colors are American. That's all. I was just talking about this a couple weeks ago when I was out west. I grew up in the Southwest, the South, northern CA, and New England. All of that is in my roots because I had formative years in each place.

    I have family in all those places and more. My son went to the northwest and I have connections there now.

    Secession, Civil War, North/South or East/West or Coast/Center divisions are stupid-ass. Nothing more.

    Kids were the same in school wherever I lived. People are the same. If you(whoever) think you're different from the rest of America because you're from the South, think again. You're the same as New Englanders. It's amazing. You're just like the Yanks and you don't even know it.

    We're all American and my colors are red white and blue.

    Wherever I go in the world I will be American and could never hide it. (not without professional help, anyway)

    Perhaps Mr. McCain has had an epiphany? If you notice he did manage to get his dig in against Obama's 'lead from behind' style that was overwhelmingly supported by the American people. Despite the fact they complained about it every step of the way.

    Identifying with one's nationality is silly, in my humble opinion, and especially so in a universe teeming with life. How about "my color is 'human'"?

    Yeah WTG Aragorn!

    That's where I'm coming from, Aragorn...

    Earth is not considered the most habitable planet in the Universe. Planets twice the size of Earth with slightly dimmer suns would be a much better place to live and are much more common than the blue marble. Not to mention that Earth is currently on a downhill slide.

    I gotta agree with Argon, National ‘Tribalism’ is akin to racism. If you live outside of the US borders for any length of time, you find us humans are pretty much the same. There are some tribal differences, but they should be embraced and enjoyed not viewed with suspicion. Sometimes I really think everyone in the US should be forced to take international vacations about once every 2 years...and I don’t mean to Canada or the Bahamas. I find too many in the US to be ‘provincial.’

    I'm not running around wearing the flag and chanting "we're number one". I am what I am.

    I'm an earthling of painfully obvious American origin. Human like us all, and culturally American. I could try to pretend to be Canadian but beyond that I wouldn't fool anyone.

    With my collection of different accents in English alone already, I bet I could.

    In the Voices of the Forums videos, you've been hearing me speak with a North American accent, and that has been my natural way of speaking English for the last ~30 years or so, but up until then, I had an unmistakable Oxford English pronunciation. And in the meantime, I've also learned how to speak...

    • Aussie English;
    • South African English (in two different accents);
    • Scottish English (in two different accents);
    • Irish English;
    • Central African English (even though my skin color would of course give me away);
    • German English (great for making fun of the Nazis from television );
    • Russian English;
    • Flemish English (which is an absolutely horrible accent );
    • Arnold Schwarzenegger's Austrian English ;
    • French English ("'Allo 'Allo!"); and
    • a bit of rastafari English (I do a great impression of King Willie from "Predator 2" ).

    How about Cockney rhyming slang? Maybe the next you learn?
