Ellen Brown re. the Public Bank Solution

Ellen Brown is an American attorney with an interest in writing, and she has done extensive research on how money works in economies. She is the author of Web of Debt, published in 2011.

She has pointed out that the purpose of money is the practical need for a means of exchange for goods and services in communities, and it is the role of governments to provide that, in sufficient quantity to foster economic growth for all the people in those communities.

She has pointed out that the problem we have with our monetary system is the fact that the Federal Reserve is a private, not public bank, and that our currency is being issued as debt. Therefore, the system itself is flawed.

She has talked about the fact that there is one state in the United States, North Dakota, that has its own public bank, which is in partnership with regular banks, and how well this works. She is associated with the organization Public Banking Institute, which advocates other states solving their fiscal problems by adopting their model.

Her most recent book, published in 2013, with co-author Hazel Henderson, is The Public Bank Solution.

The following interview, posted by YouTuber "Rethinking The Dollar," was published two years ago, but I think the information is still timely. Ellen Brown explains what's wrong with the present system and clears up misunderstandings most people have:
