Yet, there is only so much any single individual can do. Sometimes hope is all you've got left, because there are — indeed — external factors involved beyond your control.

Hope is more external while desire is internal more so, not much passion in hope, desire can create knowing imo, even to the exstent of opposite outcome than desired.

When the outcome is the opposite of what was initially desired and hoped for then something is out of line.
The trickster is still at work. The varios inner personalities are still not on one page.
You say: "Universe, I want .......! Give it to me!" Trickster says: "Don't listen to him, universe. He really wants the opposite."
Universe says: "Done! Say no more!"
Thats why self knowlwdge is so important.
Get to know you inner trickster.

Totally, part of Waitaha lore, teaching being to know ones dark side as we all have this, is part of our journey, also then one can see others dark sides especially once your own has been acknowledged, using want will likely leave you wanting, also if the universe says nope then there is a greater desire awaiting one thats more in line or needed for one, it is ones dark side unknown that is ones biggest walk and slowest run and spikey hurdle.

What about the hopelessness of hopelessness?
All the above is all and only my opinion. It may contain some sharing of components of my current operating strategy and some foundational components of my current world view - all subject to change and not meant to be true for anyone else regardless of how I phrase it.

Sam, perhaps what you ask is related to my friend I mentioned above. I expect no change from him. I haven't seen it. After decades, if he hasn't learned by now, he won't. So I hold out no hope and therefore if I do see change it well be something of a miracle.

I wonder if that then would be reason for hope? The miracles that happen. (If they really are).

That sounds good. But I haven't done anything to my friend that needs forgiving. I try to be patient and help people see things from a different perspective. Of course that doesn't mean they listen...

And I bet your idea would work anyway.

In this case I have to come to Vern's rescue...because Ho opono pono is a totally different kind of philosophy...as it's a way of healing regardless. It's not about you having wronged someone, but to ask for forgiveness anyway...and it's kind of disarming any kind of judgment on anybody's behalf or level. It works on the emotional body and people respond to it, and heal. Test it out...it works anyhow.

Thank you, Elen. I've heard of it but clearly didn't understand. Perhaps I'll try but maybe with some family instead.

There are many who champion try or do.

Sometimes there is no try or do without hope.

I'd say that hope is one of the fundamental things in life which keeps many people alive and sane.

If there is no hope, why even bother?

What's the driving force? Vengeance? Greed? Joy? Excitement? Fear?

    Hope?

    Love?
