If not by now, then in the near future people will come to realize how much we are dependant on Sun and it's energy...

I almost wonder if this is why solar is being pushed so hard... because it will be farless useful in a solar minimum, a good cloud cover makes my panels almost useless.

Wind: Thanks for this post, I'm going to spend little more time looking into it.

A few quick notes: I lived in the Netherlands for 8 years. During that time, I found out about the Dutch "Golden Age" where they created a global trading empire. That Golden Age was EXACTLY during the Maunder Minimum and The Netherlands is situated at roughly the same latitude as Hudson Bay.

I did a lot of research into sunspots, but I'm not so sure we don't have another phenomena at work here. Also, whenever anybody starts quoting probabilities of something happening, especially the result of some climate model, as a modeler myself, I am very interested in what assumptions are built into it ESPECIALLY if the person is from NASA, NOAA, and any of the other alphabet agencies of the Deep State. After 10 years in the climate biz, I can say climate modeling is very inexact, with massive lack of detail and much missing data.

Just a comment on computer programs. As an english Teacher I was intrigued to learn that when choosing the language for a computer - here in Australia; Choosing Australian English actually gives the person American English. To choose the correct English a person must choose British English.

Nothing wrong with American english but Australian english is different. I always suggest to Students to choose British English. I also explain that all languages are unique (that was the first lesson I learned when studying linguistics) and the choice is not about superiority it is purely about making a correct choice. I also inform Students that the 'problem' comes from a manufacturing point of origin. So - whoever was employed to engage the language choices - was not properly educated with regard to the differences in Australian and American english.

I suspect the 'choice' of computer programming production person/crew was an 'on purpose' choice and designed to sow seeds of confusion. Luckily Students love love love pressing buttons on the computer so they always get stuck in and look at the language choices. I always make sure they think Critically and look at their world. I can only hope I have made a difference.

Much Respect & Much Peace - Amanda

    Aussie English:

    Oye!
    ******
    C**t
    Rock up
    G'day
    Mate

When I'm in an Aussie bar, and me mates get into their brogue, I need a translator!

Aussie English is fairly understandable. I had an Aussie girlfriend many (many many many) moons ago, and I could understand her very well. I can even easily adopt an Aussie accent myself. But then again, I also do a fairly good Scottish — in two different varieties, even. And Irish. And I actually had an Oxford accent up until I was in my mid twenties.

Understanding what you Acronymians are talking about on the other hand, now that isn't always easy.

I've been to Ireland a handful of times. The local accents can be so strong that other Irish can't understand. Learning Gaelic? Oy!

Speaking of Mass Media, for so long MSNBC has trailed FOX in ratings, I just kinda assumed that would continue. In fact, it is not. Here's a quote about the changes:

The problem for Fox News is that their entire business model works against them in this environment. The editorial practice on Fox is to hype anything and everything that reflects negatively on Democrats and liberals. Conversely, they avoid or underplay any news that harms their benefactors on the right. Since almost all of the news these days is horrible for Republicans, Fox News is trapped in a vortex of right-wing happy-talk. And worse, they are ideologically precluded from reporting what viewers are most interested in.

yeah, crazy, travel ten miles and accent totally different, especially down south, lived there a couple of times, one can sorta morph into the local lingo after a moon or two, after a while you get the average Irishman confused as to which part of Ireland you come from lol.

Totally understandable. MSNBC offers an all you can eat buffet of Trump hate. Hate needs feeding because Source/Love will not feed it. Hate is a ravenous beast.

Made me smile to see the comments about 'Aussie English' however I just want to clarify one important aspect. Sigh ... again it is about my typed words not conveying the exact meaning and intent. My problem - I have to keep practicing my skills.

Anyhoo ... the critical aspect is this: When purchasing a computer in Australia, when you select your choice of language which could be Aussie English - that choice is incorrect. Yes we have some fun slang and I have had some hilarious hours on Skype with friends looking for images and demonstrating the same word having an entirely different meaning - context et cetera. Don't get me started on what we Australians call 'Biscuits' and what Americans call 'Biscuits' - hilarious!

First lesson I learned when studying Linguistics - and - as far as I am concerned the most valuable lesson is this: All languages are unique. No one language is better or superior to another. So with that in mind, the point I am trying to make is that at the production level the Aussie English is not even close to correct. I speak from the viewpoint of a qualified secondary English Teacher.

Aussie English when selected as the language option does not produce correct spelling nor does it take into account the fact that American English is constructed differently in terms of grammar. Soooooo ... that is the point I was trying to convey. The manufacturers are not producing a quality product and I would go so far as to suggest that it is one of those 'on purpose' faults. I researched and found it is definitely a manufacturing problem.

Getting back to Aussie English on another more fun level: Hoo roo mate. See ya round. Might see you down at the pub this arvo after work or we could go to the bottlo and pick a few cold ones. We could throw them back over at Davos. He's having a barbie tonight.

    Much Respect - Amanda

NB: Have friends of Italian heritage, where I live, who refer to me as a Skip. I'll just leave that there so people can have a laugh ....
