'Mt. Rainier towers at over 14,000 feet, and in its foothills lives a mystery.'

    About

My name is jonathan and I go investigate Bigfoot hotspots all over the Western United States. I will dive into the history of the area, and spend time in the woods wherever I believe I can best gather evidence. I have years of hiking and backpacking experience, and will go to places most have never walked, and bring you along for the adventure.

Something different for this thread, but a story and organization close to my heart ...
This occurrence happened back in 2005, but the rescuer and the Bald eagle are still around.

    Beauty and the Beak

The Bald Eagle Beauty's beak was shot off in Alaska leaving her unable to feed herself. Birds of Prey NW is fitting her with a prosthetic beak. She cannot be released into the wild but will serve as an educational bird showing that human compassion can undue human cruelty.
    Birds of Prey Northwest

Birds of Prey Northwest’s mission is to educate the public about birds of prey, through our live raptor presentations, and provide medical treatment to injured, sick, and orphaned wild raptors with the goal of returning them to the wild. In 2025, Birds of Prey Northwest will celebrate its 32nd year as a nonprofit founded by raptor biologist and executive director Janie Veltkamp in St. Maries, Idaho. Janie's early work helping reintroduce endangered Peregrine Falcons to urban sites led her to realize the unique position birds of prey hold as both powerful educators and bioindicators of ecological systems.

With dedicated board members, core staff, volunteers of all ages, and partners, Janie is guiding Birds of Prey Northwest into the future, including state, regional and national education outreach, and state-of-the-art rehabilitation facilities and techniques. Her pioneering leadership of the team that engineered a 3D-printed prosthetic beak for Beauty the Bald Eagle, and her co-authorship of the award-winning children's book Beauty and the Beak: How Science, Technology, and a 3D-Printed Beak Rescued a Bald Eagle, have brought Birds of Prey Northwest’s work to worldwide attention. Her coauthorship of the new, award-winning children’s book Swoop and Soar: How Science Rescued Two Osprey Orphans and Found Them a New Family in the Wild introduces readers to her work with a truly international species that now faces many environmental challenges.

Our goals are met through program fees, grants, sale of books and other educational materials, and private donations, with 100% of our annual budget going towards our mission.

Wait...The Worst Possible US Disaster Just Got EVEN WORSE?!?
    (Cascadia Megaquake)

    PBS Terra

    Jul 3, 2025
The Big One is coming and it could be far worse than anyone imagined.

The Cascadia Subduction Zone, just off the Pacific Northwest coast, is building toward a massive earthquake and tsunami. But new research reveals an even more terrifying possibility: widespread toxic spills, infrastructure collapse, wildfires, and deadly gas plumes. All triggered by a single seismic event.

In this episode of Weathered, we dig into the science behind the Cascadia Megaquake, why the Pacific Northwest is especially vulnerable, and how climate change could make it worse. We explore what you can do to stay safe and why your community might be your best line of defense.
