My father, a doctor, used to complain about people swallowing all sorts of things. Glass and metals etc. Sometimes he had to remove these things from people's stomachs and he said they were crazy people... I never questioned his thoughts, but I do think he was right in many cases...you know...

Your father was right. There is a condition called PIKA where people swallow non-edible items whole. My husband works with individuals with intellectual disabilities and has had people with this condition. It can also exist among people with psychiatric issues. One individual managed to swallow a man's watch. The immediate question was always, can he pass it?

Johnny always makes a point to tell his audience that he respects his body and doesn't want to injure it. He ends his acts by swallowing a balloon and then swallowing a sword to pierce it. He implies that it will come out the next day but in reality he doesn't let a long rubber balloon go through his digestive system. He has the ability to bring it right back up.

His skill is one of the last 'sideshow' type acts in existence. Even the circus has closed.

You should see what he can do with a cigarette!

I wonder if Joe has ever interviewed a sword swallower? Or other such Freak.

(In light of the fact that Joe often begins his shows with the phrase, "Hello Freak B*&$#s", I believe this is not entirely off topic)

Why does Shermer call himself scientific? It's not scientific to approach with a pre-conceived bias. That's what he does, and he says it.

Why is it the people he challenges have to prove things but he works from a pre-set position that he doesn't have to provide evidence for?

    He's a skeptic. He's not a scientist.

Grahmn and the guy via skype were triggering each other pretty hard; however they did sort of recognize it and say things appropriate for recognition (though it didn't seem super genuine). It was very cringy watching them go back and forth over what boiled down to a couple minor confusions.
