At 2:33 in the Graham Hancock interview they discuss the serpent mound and a drone they flew above to film the sunset at the solstice. Very interesting.

It's a little weird to see the videos you posted, Aianawa. Abby's on RT. They talk about Joe's old show "Joe Rogan Questions everything". That show was around when I first heard of him. That and Fear Factor.

I saw Free Solo. Great movie. And even though I knew how it would turn out, I still had sweaty palms.

The part about Alex's amygdala needing massive stimulation to cause him to be afraid was very interesting.

He would go over his climbs, element by element. Review them in his mind like playing a piece. It was amazing to watch.

He encountered a unicorn during his climb:

I saw it some time ago too, a great documentary for sure.

It's interesting and also a bit disappointing to know that he is a "militant" atheist.

As in actively anti-religion? Or just very strongly opinionated?

I'll check out the link. Thanks.

I'm aware that atheists can be aggressive with their opinions. I tend to see that as reaction to the problems of religions which are vast. It's hard to get past that.

Bill Maher is an atheist and he speaks as if people believe in myths and fairy tales and the conversation cannot get beyond that point because it's part of his base/foundation of belief.

    Ironic.

I'll usually tell atheists that they don't 'know' anymore that the folks with faith 'know'.

Personal experience isn't proof, except for the individual.

Anti-religious. I think that militant atheists and fundamentalist-religious people are two sides of the same coin, both are very annoying!

Every person has their own beliefs, even the ones who don't believe in God or afterlife. Those too are just beliefs.

His quotes aren't too bad, imo. He finds spirituality in nature, so does my husband. He sees religion as myths, not unlike Mr. Maher.

As long as he's not acting out against religious people and condemning them, it's alright. Many people get closer to God as they age.

There could also be an association with the amygdala and his spirituality.

The religions which keep the largest numbers of faithful have hell and punishment near or at the forefront. People just don't keep the faith as strongly or go to church as regularly if that fear isn't there.

Alex doesn't feel a lot of fear. He's not a good candidate for religious belief. But finding spiritual meaning in nature makes great sense.

Yeah, I can relate to that. I find nature to be a very spiritual place, it's my temple where I worship the divine.
