Thumbs Up Why I Am Not a Mythicist

    ***

The Christ myth theory (also known as the Jesus myth theory, Jesus mythicism, mythicism, or Jesus ahistoricity theory) is the proposition that Jesus of Nazareth never existed, or if he did, he had virtually nothing to do with the founding of Christianity and the accounts in the gospels.

    ***

During this traditional annual festival season commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, i often recall that first time as a five year old boy walking up to the massive doors of Saint Gabriel Church and feeling the familiar presence of a beloved one. Yes even before the indoctrination commenced via my Roman Catholic upbringing, i was aware of the true nature of this most holy and very real historical personage. From where and how this trusting awareness originated, i can only sense to say comes from a knowing instilled within my heart even before i entered this homage structure - Which has since been all the proof i have ever needed to believe in not only the historic, but his special spiritual place amongst all humankind.

If you needed any further proof of His existence (which you don't seem to), Neale Donald Walsch's wonderful series of books "Conversations with God" and Conversations with Humanity", as well all the adjunct books he wrote AND "A Course in Miracles" all of which are so-called channeled works, simply serve as substantiation of your beliefs.

I consider myth to be compatible with personal experience of "Christ", as consciousness and also as a personal "friend", even "savior" if one needs that to thrive. The evidence of something encompassing of unconditional love is really important IMO in order to live fully. Here is a report that made me weep. I don't get stuck in the superficial definitions anymore but rejoice in the way that we are given gifts of LOVE that change us, that changes EVERYTHING.

I love Christmas and saw a cake that said "Happy Birthday Jesus". That is no less real than anything when one believes in the GREATER real relationship with "whatever" we call it. IMO parsing up the bits and pieces of "historic versus mythic" to discount this real is no longer interesting. I say "Happy Birthday Sacred Christ Child" and I am smiling in and with this celebrating of it's truth.

I remain a bit more pragmatic about it all and see quite a bit of delusion wrapped up in various belief. Be it distortions which have evolved and been adopted, or an amplification of emotional attachment to beliefs which logically would have been subject to historical distortion.
For me, a person named Christ most likely existed. Everything after that is subject to meddling and distortion and amnesia. The Romans supposedly killed him, and then they facilitate the hijacking of his memory with the creation of the Catholic Church and the filtered construction of a book laced with soul traps. I see this all as proof He existed. But not anything to really be taken notice of. I do not need a book to guide me and to take away my own inner knowing. I have absolutely no time for organised religion. I do not condemn those who are caught up in it, I don't really give that area of society much energy at all, these words are quite a bit for me.
I do not celebrate Xmas during the Southern Hemispheres summer solstice. It is all dates and names from the fictitious publication made by Romans. It is fine to celebrate the birth of Jesus on whatever day it was. You see what I mean. No one KNOWS, so buying into the official made up time allocation is one step removed from the truth of, not knowing. Very subtle the change from knowingly partaking in the symbolic, and being part of the fabrication, a fabrication which has a parallel set of symbology worshipping Nimrod among other things.

If I could change one word in there it would be delusions. Sorry my typing manner can come across as harsh at times!
There is something about Christmas these days which does upset me. The use of it being a religious celebration as an excuse to bombard the public with commercialism using all the imagery and paraphernalia related to the "Non" religious symbology. All that stuff takes over and it is no longer a festival with the official reason, it is a festival about the obscure, with imagery very alluring to children. No one seems to mind or notice.

I loved the "Conversations With God" books.
The "Course in Miracles" HUMMM. I am not sure what to say. It has become like a religion itself IMO.

BUT I think the most powerful erasure of ALL ILL is the ability to forgive everything. To the extent that we have not been able to forgive, THAT place will hold us up, keep us down, grab us in circlular repetition and will be always haunting us.

I'be written about the power of forgiveness here before. I had to forgive my husband for unfaithfulness and almost leaving us. There was a very long period of difficulty. We've come out of it stronger than we were before. And our son is doing fantastically well. If I hadn't forgiven and he hadn't tried to do the right thing...

So I'll second heartily your words about forgiveness, Maggie.

I feel pretty sure Jesus was a real person. I went through a vaguely agnostic phase where I was mostly questioning church tenets.

Because God is everywhere and God is everything I don't feel distant from the creator or source.

I'm personally bothered by the current "Jesus is Lord" trend where there is no God but Jesus. The trinity is barely acknowledged and there seems to be no feminine in God. This is ridiculous to me since God is everywhere and everything. Of course God is feminine. And masculine. And all of it.

I had Mormon missionaries tell me that all three members of the trinity are masculine.

Sometimes I think people want to live in an unbalanced, out of whack world.
