By the 60's there probably wasn't a lot of Maori who were pure blood Maori. And you can see that the nation of Maori people is actually made of seemingly different faces. Yet we are not allowed to speak of the country having been settled multiple times by multiple visitors going back at least a few thousand years. We still officially recite that NZ was settled 1000 - 800 years ago.

It is funny that people seem to make comment about kapahaka (song and dance) troupes in modern times, we have evolved to having European people wanting to be part of it. Often, they are only European looking, and can have just as much of a traceable lineage as someone who looks like they are Maori. Yet it is a common thing for people to make some comment about them not being maori and they shouldn't be there. I find that attitude fascinating.

A look into how New Zealand looked only as far back as 1984. People still think it looks like it is 30 years behind the metropolis' of Europe and USA today, but you should have seen where we've come from. Oh well now you have!
