The story of this guy is fascinating. He left Russia for ten years after having been promoted by Lenin. When he got back he spent 10 more years in the gulag for who knows what. Anyway, I thought the 'theremin' was a cool new invention but in fact, it was invented at the turn of the 19th century. Crazy, it seems to me to be one of those out-of-time and place scientific inventions that are so intriguing.
