Another Phaedra. Velvet Morning. This has such a 60's feel to it.

I do have to say that even though The Classic Rock Show generally do a great job at just about every cover they play, as a Boston fan, I really don't like this rendition. :hmm:
For starters, the rhythm guitars don't sound anywhere near as fluid as in the original recording (and live renditions) by Boston. They're too "choppy". Then there's the lead guitar parts by both James and Pete. Their guitars just sound different.
And then there's the way Rudy changes the timing on most of the lyrics, which makes his vocal performance into more of a crooner-type thing, compared to the serenity that the late and great Brad Delp gave to this magnificent song when Boston recorded it back in the 1970s.
On the other hand and in all fairness, I must express admiration for the way Rudy is capable of sustaining that last note. Not even Brad Delp himself could do that at the time, because on the original recording, Brad's last note is artificially sustained by blending in a kind of reverberation effect — Tom Scholz is an electronics engineer and he personally designed and developed most of the special effects and electronics that Boston was using in those days, leading him to start his own musical instrument effects company later.
