Dancing isn't just for mating rituals. At bars that might be the predominant motive. But overall, dancing goes way beyond that. It's ceremony and culture and art and expression.
That DUST film which Aragorn just posted has a bit about dancing. She never could before.
And that 'ritual' between the two of them was close to the opposite of mating...
Having said that, it's certainly quite often part of a mating ritual.

My Dad just loved to dance. He did it all his life. And he really had trouble feeling the beat and moving in time to the music. My mom was a saint. She studied music and sang so she always knew how off he was. She loved to dance with him anyway.
My mother used to like dancing unlike my father. I don't think I would know how to dance properly. :D

Sweet ... My dad (adoptive version) was a Narcissist I think. He was considered pretty handsome, he sang and worked to his own music. Loved to do dancing performances ... that kind of thing. One of the reasons I always knew I was adopted ... :) ... People have told me I have nice 'moves' but it was always in the most ridiculous of contexts.
