Thanks Aragorn. That was a good listen. (Those)
The Blue Nile song is nearly as old as my adult life. Weird to think about.

Don't mind me, I'm just shuffling over to that corner where I can hum along to 80s tunes :ninja:
Nice to have you here, just make yourself comfortable. As a matter of fact, I know exactly how you feel. It will pass, I promise.

Another little blast from the past... The Mo was an unconventional and unfortunately short-lived Dutch band. They did not use any guitars (or bass guitar), and their chord progressions and melodies were often considered bizarre and erratic, but they really did know what they were doing. Yet, in spite of their experimental and unconventional sound, they did produce a couple of chart hits, among which this one, from their first album, in 1981.

I thought that nothing could help
To avoid depressions inside me
Fatalistic words passed my mind
Fear and hate and darkness around me
You came, you carefully tried
Not to show your wonders about me
Many talks, they turned step by step
Into novels, all made to change me
Just a summer love affair
Made me feel like Fred Astaire
Jumping up and up and flyin' around
Your love lifts me off the ground
I thought that nothing could help
To avoid depressions inside me
Many talks, they turned step by step
Into novels, all made to change me
Just a summer love affair
Made me feel like Fred Astaire
Jumping up and up and flyin' around
Your love lifts me off the ground
After their first album, the band split up, but the drummer tried to reboot the band with an all-new line-up, including a new singer, Linda Bloemhard, whose stage presence apparently made the band popular enough for small and local live performances, in spite of a lack of interest in their music from the mainstream music industry.
This here was a single from their second album, released in 1982. The band eventually completely dissolved in 1984.

I wonder what is wrong with me
They never show some sympathy
Pointing fingers at my person
Telling me I should learn
They say I'm pretty but so cool
A sort of instant pleasure fool
They hurt me so and that's so cruel
But I just keep on smiling
It seems that I'm not wanted here
I say goodbye and run in fear
'Cause their talking starts again
Hear them whisper, women, men
I thought they liked me very much
But they throw me out on the spot
I can't say I still care a lot
I just keep on smiling
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
What have I done
That makes people get me on the run?
It's not the kick or the fun
It seems they just don't like me
Well, then it's time to leave you
That's the only way to sleep
I close my eyes and dream a dream
That makes me wake up smiling
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
Smiling is my way out
When I'm lonely or in doubt
Crying doesn't cheer you up
Smiling, keep on walking
Another oldie... Or at least, this is a song from late 1995, early 1996. So, um, yeah, I guess that makes it into an oldie. :p
(The lyrics are on the video itself.)
I really liked that one, Aragorn.

Bsbray, I think this robot should be used on a canvas with bottles of paint.
