This was written and recorded during the Reagan era, but it still seems apt for the time.
A cookie for who can guess who plays the piano on this song — hint: his style is very recognizable. ;)

Remember when the days were long
And rolled beneath a deep blue sky
Didn't have a care in the world
With mommy and daddy standin' by
But "happily ever after" fails
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers dwell on small details
Since daddy had to fly
But I know a place where we can go
That's still untouched by men
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waves in the wind
You can lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie
But I know a place where we can go
And wash away this sin
We'll sit and watch the clouds roll by
And the tall grass waves in the wind
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair spill all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
Who knows how long this will last
Now we've come so far, so fast
But, somewhere back there in the dust
That same small town in each of us
I need to remember this
So baby give me just one kiss
And let me take a long last look
Before we say goodbye
Just lay your head back on the ground
And let your hair fall all around me
Offer up your best defense
But this is the end
This is the end of the innocence
And we have a winner! :p
Indeed, Bruce Hornsby wrote this song for Don Henley, and he even recorded his own version of it. ;)
I only really know one song from him, but recognized the sound.

This was another one that he scored well with. :)
This week's HSCC and LLB uploads. ;)
Think about it, there must be higher love
Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above
Without it, life is a wasted time
Look inside your heart, I'll look inside mine
Worlds are turning and we're just hanging on
Facing our fear and standing out there alone
A yearning, and it's real to me
There must be someone who's feeling for me
Things look so bad everywhere
In this whole world, what is fair?
We walk blind and we try to see
Falling behind in what could be
Where's that higher love I keep thinking of?

This week's HSCC... :)
Those are some quality covers, reminds me of cover band "The Australian Pink Floyd". I saw "Pink Floyd" back in the 80's in an outdoor stadium setting, "The Australian Pink Floyd" 2009 in a much more up close and personal venue of just a couple of thousand people, and the latter may as well have been the real deal.
Here's a prime example (the video works):

The Classic Rock Show — of whom I've also already posted several videos on this thread — also do a pretty good job at covering Pink Floyd. ;)
