I remember listening to this song some time ago and he sounds so much like the original, but it's live... those guys are amazing, other people after 10 years or so can't even sing their own songs anymore lol :S

Well, since I don't know whether you know the HSCC, they are not the original performers of this song. They're a cover band ─ with a loosely knit team of about 60 musicians and singers ─ from Adelaide, South Australia. The bass player, Con Delo, is the founder, and he writes the arrangements. And just to put things into perspective, Danny Lopresto, the singer in this particular video, is actually a heavy metal guy, but he can cover just about any style, and he always does it with great prowess. ;)
And the LLB are back again too. ;)
Oh i see, glad to know, they sound so pro i did not know the difference lol
Even then i have seen guys that are supposedly awesomely pro but once you see them live it's so boring i had to leave before the end of the concert. They were meh at most
These guys actually did it at pro level :)
Yes, this is very true. The only two bands (in my personal opinion) that actually sounded better live than on their albums were Toto and Van Halen (during the Sammy Hagar era). But of course, when you're talking Toto, then we're talking of a group of trained and experienced session musicians who've also played on albums by thousands of other artists and across countless different styles, and who absolutely love jamming together. They're world-class, in my opinion. ;)
As for the HSCC, there are many videos of them here on the thread, covering many different songs and many different styles. And it's always great to see them in action ─ all of their videos are recorded live; there's no overdubbing.
Hey, they're really good, Sidinugget. Seriously, I've been following them for quite a while now, and they cover the greatest variety of styles, and all very professionally done. They also have a couple of cute lady singers, such as Lesley Williams, who's covering Stevie Nicks in the video below.
And it's all live, by the way. No pre-recording, no overdubbing. Every video is a live performance. They usually do about three takes and then they pick the best one.
So do I. I'm not much of a fan of David Lee Roth ─ I think he's a narcissist and a showboat ─ but when Van Halen partnered up with Sammy Hagar, it transformed their music. Suddenly they went from being Roth's backing band to being a genuine four-piece band, in which they also left room for Sammy Hagar's lead guitar skills ─ Eddie only played the synthesizer on "Why Can't This Be Love", and the lead guitar was done by Sammy.
Plus, Sammy is simply a much better singer and songwriter than D.L. Roth. Roth's solo career in the 1990s proved that he needed to surround himself with world-class musicians like Steve Vai to make his music even remotely acceptable, and even then still it was only mediocre. Sammy Hagar on the other hand had already had a successful career going on his own by the time he joined Van Halen, and as the frontman of Montrose before that.
It's a pity Van Halen had a falling-out with Sammy later ─ which was largely Eddie's fault, due to him hanging out with Roth again and letting Roth influence him in his decisions ─ and then after a short stint with Gary Cherone of Extreme, they ultimately partnered up with Roth full-time again.
The way I see it, their success during the first Roth era was down to the talent of the Van Halen brothers themselves, and their bass players ─ they've had a few others before Michael Anthony, I believe ─ but certainly not due to Roth. But when Sammy took over, their success was fully earned by the whole band.
By the way, I posted the full "Right Here, Right Now" concert video here at the forum in 2020. ;)
I like Diamond Dave, but I like Sammy too.............
