Education leads to ugliness, premature aging, and beard growth. :ttr:
We've come a long way baby. In the 19th century a man could get rid of his wife by having her committed for 'hysteria'.
I'm sure those hospitals helped the condition to become real.:wacko::shocked:
There is actually an excellent Netflix movie starring Maggie Gyllenhall based loosely on this topic. It's called "Hysteria".
In Victorian London, rich, Aristocratic women visited doctors on a weekly basis to be treated for "Hysteria", in reality, misdiagnosed sexual dissatisfaction. The "doctors" used their hands to "massage" the clitoris of these women (who were sufficiently covered up of course and it was all kept prim and proper), until they caused them to have a "paroxism" or in other words an orgasm. The vibrator was invented around this time, to give doctors' tired hands a rest. Victorians had no idea that these "paroxisms" were actually the female equivalent of a male orgasm. Their ignorance on the matter is really hilarious in hindsight.
Here's the trailer:

Paroxysm was orgasm? Effing hilarious.
I knew that they did exams under cover without actually looking. But I wasn't taught the full extent of it at the time.
I really gotta watch that movie with my husband!
Thanks for the ref.
The Victorian prudes invented the vibrator. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.
We are all victims of someone else's projection....it is true...we can call it the 'mirror universe'

If you haven't seen the Onion's satirical "Our Dumb World" atlas yet, this will provide hours of entertainment and savage laughter.
It is absolutely brutal and ruthless, I am amazed this was ever published, there is no way in hell this would be allowed today.
I particularly like the section on Thailand, let's just say if they went anywhere near that country, the king would have their heads cut off...
But really, it's all around brilliance. If you're short on time, just look at your own part of the world and marvel at the rude stereotypes and characterisations.
