Because of Big Noise's efforts, the Original Motion Picture Score for Jessica Biel's film producing debut, 'Hole In the Paper Sky,' along with the film's composer Kerry Muzzey ('Glee') was placed by The Recording Academy on the Official Ballot for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in the following categories:
Actors Jessica Biel (who produced the film), Garry Marshall and Jason Clarke headline director Bill Purple's melancholy short about an anti-social math wiz and chess fanatic whose misanthropic worldview is challenged by a lovable little canine. Howard (Clarke) is a 'perpetual student' whose uncanny knack for numbers has resulted in a false sense of superiority. Simply put, Howard sees himself as superior to nearly everyone he encounters - including the aging chess champion that he defeats in a high-profile tournament. Now, the man who views the world through darkened shades of contempt strikes up a most unexpected friendship.

Great book from the female ‘chess tigeress’ perspective.

Susan Polgar, of the chess Polgar sisters. Probably THE best chess teacher and coach in the world right now:

Her sister, Judit, is no slouch either:

Describing an individual encounter with Judit Polgár, former U.S. Champion Joel Benjamin said, "It was all-out war for five hours. I was totally exhausted. She is a tiger at the chessboard. She absolutely has a killer instinct. You make one mistake and she goes right for the throat."
Coolio. I saw a show where two well-matched players played each other after a particular meal to see which one was better fueled. One had a high protein meal, the other had a high carb meal. Each time, the player who had the high protein meal was able to play better longer. I forget how long they ate before playing, enough to digest a bit.
Make of this what you will. Chaos heads the page and these are the words of a dying man who did much for his country.
Words do indeed matter...
I saw on the news this morning that 'certain' words are being banned from the lexicon in governmental health policy circles. Really? Are they serious? People laughed at me when I warned them (in plenty of time) what a Trump presidency would mean. My biggest regret raising my daughter was being wrong when I told her to not worry about things because Trump simply could not be elected in the United States. I care what no one says, he is the False Prophet and I'm sure the Anti-Christ is halfway to his goal.
Yeah. You can't say science-based and you can't say evidence based. You have to say with consideration of science and community standards and values.
Religious right-wing PC anyone?
Dying man or not, so far as I'm concerned John McCain can take his cherished "Liberal World Order" and shove it.
He's a fine one to speak so piously of values and peace, when the man never saw a war or an arms deal he didn't like.Quote:
Globally, the institutions of the post–World War II liberal world order continued their tragic decline. After 70 years of the greatest stability, security, and prosperity the world has ever known, we are letting that order slip through our fingers. If we do, we will find that the chaos left behind will neither protect our interests nor promote our values — and it will surely not secure the peace.
Stability... Ask areas like Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, how valuable America has been to their stability. Hell, he probably still considers "the gooks" to be the bad guys in Vietnam...
Question: Does the changing of one word from "New World Order", to "Liberal World Order", suddenly make it a good thing now?
It's always been a good thing...propagandists live their lives trying to hide that fact.
To my American friends and not only to them I pose this question...
What does liberty mean to you?
Does this symbol stand for anything in reality?

One of the most important liberties we're supposed to have is freedom from religious oppression. This has been turned on it's head to become people fighting for their religious 'right' to make others live by their religious rules.
What liberal world order is there? If people are trying to control your behavior they're not liberals. Liberal is a word directly tied to freedom. Liberal. Liberty.
The pursuit of happiness is a liberal idea and value. There are many religions that frown on happiness, leisure and fun.
Owning your own property is a liberal value. The conservative values which existed when this country was founded were that the monarchy owned it all. This country was not founded on any kind of conservative values. It was liberal and revolutionary.
Throughout my life a great many Americans have worked to turn liberal into a bad word. It's a great tragedy, imo.
if there was ever any doubt, Twitter says the U.S. govt led by Harry Reid has admitted to funding a UFO research program between 2007 and 2012
It's a great tragedy that even here on these supposedly enlightened forums, the Left/Right - Liberal/Conservative paradigm can still exert such an intoxicating and divisive influence.
Gang colors abound at every level, curiouser and curiouser observed Alice.
