Beth was on Fade to Black on the 15th of June and she spoke of her journey through illness to healing. I found the show quite interesting.
There was a story she told about Michael Harner that I found quite funny. In the 60s he spent time in South America with some indigenous cultures. He was asking many questions about their religion. They finally told him that if he really wants to know he should drink their tea. It was Ayahuasca. He did, got quite ill and needed an antidote, and had numerous visions in the process.
He really wanted to talk about these visions and so he went into the Amazon rain forest and found a blind shaman to talk to. Among the stories he told this shaman was one about a number of dragons that began falling out of the sky. They told him that they were the rulers of this world.
The blind shaman replied, "Oh, they're always saying that."
I laughed.
And I recalled that I had had a dream about dragons just a couple days before. It was brief. I was standing at the edge of a cliff wall which rose above me. There was a cave in front of me. I stood just outside. I heard a very loud screeching sound and somehow knew it was a dragon. Someone may have told me. I thought that I should be afraid but wasn't. I worried someone might get eaten. I looked up. The sky was light grey with clouds and it was daytime. I saw a dragon flying. It emerged from the clouds and then went back in. I got one more look. I felt fortunate to see a dragon and also cautious. It was black with wings and legs and a tail. (Not a flying serpent).
The dream was familiar. Once awake I recalled having had it before and being much more afraid during that dreaming.
