At key times of despair in the USA, eventually someone runs for President that goes beyond the usual "lesser of two evils."

Watch Bernie and be inspired! Vermont's Independent U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders speaks on topics from climate change to income inequality in a Town Hall Meeting in Austin, Texas, on March 31st, 2015.

I actually like that guy, as far as politicians go. I haven't found one policy of his that I'm not in agreement with. It's almost like a "too good to be true" scenario. But then, he doesn't get any mainstream coverage really, which means it's possible the PTB might not want him around, which is a promising thought... He even gets less mass media attention than Rand Paul, or other "alternative choices" that have come before, and that's worth noticing. Why is that?

On a related note, recently Facebook released a bunch of metrics about the entirety of the data they collect, and one of the highlights they pointed out was that Bernie Sanders has the widest reach of any other politician or political organization on FB. When Bernie shares something, he reaches more news feeds than even the White House does. That's interesting, too.

bernie is refreshing for his openness.

he's a 'democratic socialist.'

and as we know, socialism is lazy communism.

a nice guy who sounds good, whose destructive policies have never worked.

other than that, he's got my vote :eyebrows:

Sanders took a long time to decide if he would run and whether he would run as an independent or tackle Hillary. In 24 hours he has collected 175,000 pledged campaign volunteers and $1.5 million in donations and is running as a Democrat. https://berniesanders.com/

Here's a link to his position on ten critical issues http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/bernie-sanders-believe-candidate-stands-10-issues/

Just what we need is an official Socialist in office. Sanders is a proven no backbone fraud since when push came to shove he caved to Babylonian money magic bankers.

I don't care for socialism, but because of what TPTB do with it. The only thing I remember Bernie saying that I didn't like was in regards to global warming. I believe we are doing terrible things to the environment, but the global warming solution as introduced by Al Gore would not help anyone. It would be the equivalent of creating a Federal Reserve for major industries, meaning the biggest industries would form a monopoly just as the Federal Reserve banks have. I liked the rest of what he said though, and really think he would improve our economy in a real way and not just do a bunch of lip smacking.

I'd vote for him just because his last name isn't Bush or Clinton, and because I actually don't think he's taking orders from the usual figures. I would rather it have been Ron Paul but we missed that boat already, and his son is no replacement.

^ Well said. I still don't believe our voting system works the way we were taught it does, but if I'm going to play that game, I'm going to pick the one that the powers that be seem to like the least.

Hi Grannyfranny,

I was so happy to see your post. I enjoy Bernie Sanders and feel he is one of those rare politicians who is a statesman! He tells the Truth, sees the corruption and is in there fighting each day to try to make things right. I felt Dennis Kucinich was another warrior for Truth as was Ron Paul. There are too few among the rest who are corrupt. The Truth gets put out there but it is not seen or appreciated by the masses. I do not believe we have a democracy at all. I have NEVER voted in my entire life, not even registered and why is too long to explain. It is corrupt, useless, pointless and a game I never played.
That does not mean I do not recognize the people who carry the Truth and support them in my heart. So I am glad I have some company here concerning Bernie Sanders.

Sincerely,
Today:cloud:

Today, here is another good guy in Congress. In this case, he is passing along some satire that sounds almost true:

Dear Fran:

A few years ago, I revealed the GOP's healthcare plan: "Don't Get Sick. And If You Do Get Sick, Die Quickly." Recently the great satirist Andy Borowitz, the Jonathan Swift of our time, played a similar riff regarding the GOP's immigration plan. I yield to the distinguished gentleman from New York:

G.O.P. Unveils Immigration Plan: "We Must Make America Somewhere No One Wants to Live"

By Andy Borowitz

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell unveiled his party's long-awaited plan on immigration on Wednesday, telling reporters, "We must make America somewhere no one wants to live."

Appearing with House Speaker John Boehner, McConnell said that, in contrast to President Obama's "Band-Aid fixes," the Republican plan would address "the root cause of immigration, which is that the United States is, for the most part, habitable."

"For years, immigrants have looked to America as a place where their standard of living was bound to improve," McConnell said. "We're going to change that." Boehner said that the Republicans' plan would reduce or eliminate "immigration magnets," such as the social safety net, public education, clean air, and drinkable water.

The Speaker added that the plan would also include the repeal of Obamacare, calling healthcare "catnip for immigrants."

Attempting, perhaps, to tamp down excitement about the plan, McConnell warned that turning America into a dystopian hellhole that repels immigrants "won't happen overnight."

"Our crumbling infrastructure and soaring gun violence are a good start, but much work still needs to be done," he said. "When Americans start leaving the country, we'll know that we're on the right track."

In closing, the two congressional leaders expressed pride in the immigration plan, noting that Republicans had been working to make it possible for the past thirty years.

Rep. Alan Grayson

I actually like Sanders, as I consider myself to be a Left Libertarian, and sometimes his views overlap with mine. But at this point the only person I could cast my vote for President would be Andy Basiago, who is planning to announce his candidacy eventually. But a whole hell of a lot would have to happen to take him from being a fringe candidate to being a contender. But I suspect somehow that this next election may not go the way people expect.

At least the spirits of the abyss think Andy will win....not that I trust them, but hey, maybe they tell the truth once in a while for the hell of it.

Maunagarjana- For those who don't know lawyer Andrew D. Basiago, here's an article by Alfred Lambremont Webre, JD, MEd.

Vancouver, BC – Oct. 23, 2012 – In a late-breaking political and exopolitical twist to the 2012 Presidential campaign between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, it appears that the GOP campaign of Mitt Romney may be using the central slogan of the Andy 2016! Campaign – “A Time for Truth” – as Romney’s opening line in some of his stump speeches delivered during the 2012 electoral season.

“A Time for Truth” is the central slogan of the truth-oriented independent 2016 U.S. Presidential campaign of crusading lawyer Andrew D. Basiago, a whistleblower who was a participant in the U.S. government’s secret time travel program. Andy is calling for disclosure of the U.S. time travel and teleportation capability and creation of a public global teleportation system to replace our petroleum-driven and polluting transportation system.

Reached for comment at his Vancouver, WA offices, 2016 Presidential candidate Andy Basiago stated, “I have called for a time for truth. They have shown that they believe that it is only a time for ruthlessness.”

U.S. secret time travel program

Among other revelations about the secret U.S. time travel program, Andy has revealed that recent U.S. Presidents, including George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, and Barack H. Obama were pre-identified by U.S. time travel and pre-informed by the CIA of their future destinies as President, as many as 20 years inadvance. In effect, says Andy, the CIA has captured the U.S. Presidency and made the U.S. elections a charade, as the outcome is known to the winner beforehand.

Actually, it's not Mitt Romney (who isn't running) that stole his slogan, it's Ted Cruz.

Andy has also said he himself was identified as a future President, though he didn't know what year this was supposed to happen. The only way I can see that happening is if there are some major scandals and disclosures that happen first that change the political landscape completely, otherwise he will have a hard time getting enough people to take him seriously.

Maunagarjana, I see it the way you do, we would have to have such trauma for people to consider Andy. My concern is that other Presidents who were forecast ahead of time certainly weren't champs for the people.
