BBC Children in Need has kept £87.7million stashed away in its investment portfolio instead of giving it directly to charity, its latest accounts reveal.
The charity, which has raised more than £600million for youngsters in the UK since 1980, is preparing to launch a fresh appeal to viewers next month.
But some donors may be surprised to discover it does not give the money directly to good causes.

There is a lot of hype right now to donate to children in need as well buy there new record, my advice do not give them any thing not one penny. But would recommend finding any one who is in need and do what you can that would be helpful.

Well said Ria although it may be an idea to let the people know that those children after all these years, are still homeless and penniless as their benifactors are keeping the money safe for them. wake up humanity.

back in the 80,s or early 90,s Terry Wogan charged a hefty sum of 50-80,000 for presenting children in need.
even then it did not wake people up to the scam.raised a few eyebrows but nothing more.
problem is people are so brainwashed by tv programming that they soon forget.
