What if global warming (were real and...) left the Scottish highlands as hot as the Carribean islands?
Och aye
Och aye the noo
Summer come and it never go away
Oh island of tropical palms
Welcomes us with its open arms
Waves lap gently at the rocky shore
Land of pineapple, mango and whiskey galore.
Oh Shetland, home sweet home
Where heather once sprouted in the loam
Now on dis terrain we got sugar cane
And de sun beat down on Lerwick town
Where sheep once grazed there am fine banana
It's farewell puffin and yo iguana
It's haggis with tates and coconut bread
And we would eat some fesh, but the fesh are all dead
Oh Shetland, home to me
Shining jewel in a rising sea
By your bonnie banks I will offer tanks
Dat de sun beat down on Lerwick town
Dis isle was once home to the occasional viking
Now we're packed into shanties which is more to me liking
De world's population is moving up nort
'Cos it's too bl**dy hot below de firt o' fort
Oh Shetland, haem sweet haem
Some folk think it is a crying shame
By your bonnie braes I will sing in praise
Dat de sun beat down on Lerwick town
Sometime we suffer a wee typhoon
But we never let et bring us doon
We is making de most of every day
'Cos any f***ing minet we'll be washed away, away, away...
Oh Shetland, I love you still
If yellow fever don't get me den de cholera will
As your blue, blue skies swarm with tsete flies
And de sun beat down on Lerwick town
De sun beat down on Lerwick town
De sun beat down
De sun beat down
De sun... beat... down...
De sun...
De sun...
Sun...
70, 80, 90 degrees
Summer come and it never go away
5 trillion, 6 trillion dying bees
Summer come and it never go away
80, 90, 100 foot waves
Summer come and it never go away
4 billion, 5 billion, 6 billion graves
Summer come and it never go away...
Och aye
