We often forget animals are unique individuals, much like humans! Species we classify as vicious and predatory are also capable of nurturing, compassion, empathy and love. While leopard seals are notorious for preying on penguins, they also are extremely protective of their young and nurture them until their able to fend for themselves, just like the seal in this story tried to do with National Geographic’s photographer!

Wonderful and moving story. It was also a good opportunity to see what the teeth of a real meat eater looks like. Even molars are pointed or sharp edged. No flat grinding molars in the mouth of a true carnivore.

True, but no canines in a herbivore ;-)

We are omnivores and, when one looks at the American diet, that becomes abundantly clear :P (Aerosol cheese? Really? Lol)

I have cuspids. No canine teeth in my mouth. I can poke through a few things with them. I cannot pierce an animal's hide, lock them and then hang on for the ride with them. Like these:

I truly regret making my comment. I know better and slipped.:ok: If someone has a last word it will be that.

Four days this guy spent in the water, how many penguins died during that time ?

How many pictures did he need for crying out loud ?

We often forget animals are unique individuals, much like humans, but humans are the only species who seem to get pleasure out of killing each other

Cats certainly kill for fun, but its in innocence with animals though.
