Crazy ass universe! The first one I would guess is bubbling lava or a heat source of some kind, hence the epicentre being exactly where the ice has melted more? the moving brown stuff would be earth being churned. To the imagination I would love/hate to imagine the orange was an eye and the brown stirrings were the leathery skin of a huge beast but alas I don't think so.

Second one (Malcs') I dare say is a cooler more dense liquid (possibly pollutants) that sinks to the lowest recess to form what looks like a river within a sea.

I have no volume here at work (on my pc, not personally :yawn:) so i may be off kilter.
