You'll love this one, Chuck.

Unusual start for sure... You may or may not be aware of how much 'conspiracy' and 'myth' surrounded that song, "Louie, Louie". It went on for many years. Profanities started rolling into my mind almost immediately... "Condo Vultures". Those people cannot belong on God's Earth.

"If you're not a Capitalist, you're not a Patriot!"

"If you're not a Capitalist, you're unAmerican!"

This is where it goes too far. Folks here turn it into a religion. No economic system is a religion. But the language used when speaking of these systems treats them as if it's a clash of good v. evil.

And then all the safety mechanisms get flushed because someone wants to hang the evil label on them...Socialism!!! Even though we've had social programs, very effective ones, throughout the nation's history.

The religifying of Capitalism is what's bad.

For context, he wrote that song during the Reagan era. Also, he's not an American — he's English — but he does currently live in the USA and had also already lived there earlier. ;)

I really really like that song, and Joe Jackson's music. And if you'd shown me a picture, I might have been utterly clueless. I don't recognize his face, yet I'd never forget that voice. The backup singers are very eighties in their dress.

We saw a band the other night, and both guys had shoulder pads in their 'jackets'. Shoulder pads are coming back folks. Get ready.
