The linked article above studies the way Tibet was run slightly before the chinese occupation.
The idea usualy is that it was a peacefull nation. Everybody on their path to compassion and enlightenment.
The truth however is a very different story and is more like medieval europe.

Torture, slavery and gross disregard for human life.

Like christianity the tibetans then behaved much like the priests during the spanish inquesition.
I guess when we did not follow Jezus and his teachings the tibetan monk and landowner casts forgot what Buddha thought.
