Corey, you never need to apologize. You are giving of yourself and thank you for all you are doing. Now rest.

Hi longbow, I love your posts concerning firefighting. Your career as a firefighter itself is service to others and gives us amazing examples of how even the most chaotic of situations can bring out the best of people. More importantly people can handle more than we give them credit for. This got me thinking, lets share of stories of what we are doing now to make this world the place we want to live in! We are so humble I've noticed most do not share examples of what we are up to. I think sharing will help inspire others! (think of everyone reading this forum who not registered)
People come into my life.
A few weeks ago an old friend from high school contacted me. She has a heroin addiction & is close to getting kicked out the room she is renting. She has a job but all money was going up in smoke (luckily she isn't on the needle yet). She wanted to know if she could detox at my house and try and get her life together (she thought she would have to quit her job to detox and get a new one). Her relationship with her parents is not functional & made worse when her dad had to take custody of her young daughter. So her options seemed like stay with me or go to a homeless shelter. After speaking with her about her job & addiction I decided to do some research online. It turns out her employer has to give her the needed time off, pay her in part for the time off, & then let he return to work. Even better she was able to get her insurance to completely cover the costs of rehab. She left for rehab the night I joined this site. All I did was a little research online for someone who "should" have done it themselves and make some phone calls. Often the solutions for biggest problems are not what we think & easily within reach.
Lol never thought I would post something like this on the forum, hope it helps & inspires more to open up
